Women: When you're looking nice, does it bother you when men stare, whistle, yell, gaze as if you're nude?

Personally I don't like it. Don't get me wrong, men, butI love the attention. It's the obnoxious stares, whistles, gazing up and down. It's much different from when a man notices me, smiles appreciatively, and goes on his way and/or tells me "You look very nice, beautiful, etc. today". Some men stare as if you're completely naked. For example, you may be standing face to face talking to a man, and he will began looking at your breast or appreciatively looking you from head to toe.

I love complimenting men when they look and/or smell nice.

Now I wonder exactly what goes through a man's mind when they do that. Is it to truly demean a woman or what?

I agree with you. An admiring glance is GREAT! Staring is not. And I also agree that men need compliments as well.

I agree- compliments are wonderful but "looks" like that are meant to demean and objectify, and typically without permission/consent so it's like a 'visual violation'.
The sounds are the same thing- they are crossing the boundaries that you have; yet can do nothing to protect yourself against the hoots- the "men" are thus ALWAYS 'victorious' in 'defeating' your resistance- it's like a little ego-power type of thing, defeatist if you will and they 'fell like a man' for being able to break through your resistance/boundaries. Very crude, border-line violent, reminds me of a rapist.
Men nowadays have no idea what being a man is supposed to mean or what behaviors it should entail. They define it not by what women think but by what men think- and to them it's all competition. A soul-shattering hoot is a swift way to devastate a woman as the men obviously seek to do; sexuality is so messed up and violent against women's value as human beings... and deliberately so... I don't understand how it can be so vicious against women and why men hate women so much. I mean, its not like theyr ehappy for being that way towards us... it's more like just an expression of their own stunted/distorted development without values... they have to take it out on us rather than deal with themselves.....

Yes, know what you mean. But it also lets me know that I am looking as hot as I feel when I see the man's appreciative looks.If you're dressing and looking fine for the man you're with then you don't have to worry about other men's come ons cause that is the man's job. If you are with the girls night out, its different, then you might want to hear cat calls, etc.Watch your moves though if you are alone.

I agree...I strongly dislike when men STARE..It is happening all the time from all different types of men..I guess no matter what the race or age of the man they are all still the same...

That is so disrespectful when men do that. They are treating you like a piece of meat. I know physical appearance is the first thing that we see or notice but people do not have to act like wild animals.

i don't mind if they look or come up to me and start a conversation, but when they start whistling or yelling from across the room i just want to yell back "shut up, you're ugly"

i truely understand what you are saying. i broke up with my bf cuz he stared at women right in front of me. dont these bastards know its disrespect and it is annoying. its really bad when a man doesnt have self control.
