Cats can become dehydrated very quickly as they are so small. Get her to an animal hospital tonight if you at all can; if not, call a vet first thing in the morning and tell him it is an emergency. One of my cats had kidney disease, and I researched what could happen; I saw a picture of a severely dehydrated cat, and vowed that would never happen to my cat. (That picture was the closest thing I have ever seen to the photos of concentration camp victims right after liberation.)

Thank God, I was able to keep that vow. However, a few years after that cat eventually died, I was helping care for a friend's pet, and realized he was beginning to become severely dehydrated. This is *torture* to the animal; it was horrible to behold. She will also need tests to find out what is wrong, but, please, especially in this heat wave, *get her hydrated as quickly as possible*!!!\

Pulling up her skin to see if it slides back quickly *is* a way to test for dehydration, *but* by the time her skin will not go back into place quickly, she is already suffering horribly and not all that far from death. If she is drinking less than usual, especially in this heat, you should assume she is at least beginning to dehydrate.

Please take your cat to the vet for a check up as soon as possible. When making the appointment be sure to have a list of her systmes so they can have a better idea of what they might be looking at. It could be all kinds of things, a big hairball, a GI obstruction, but the vet will know what to do.
I have 4 cats of my own and I refer to this Feline First Aid website a lot, when I have questions. I am attaching it and hoping it will help you too! Good luck!

I would take her to the vet, if it has been more than 48 hrs.

In the mean time you can tell if she is dehydrated by pulling up her skin. If the skin returns back very slowly then she is dehydrated. If it goes back rapidly then she is not.

A good way to see if she is dehydrated is pull the skin up on her back. If it takes quite awhile to go back, then she is most likely dehydrated. I recommend taking her to the vet. See about testing her for Feline Leukemia.

Yes, you must get her to the vet before it becomes too serious. You may even be looking at them keeping her over-night and hooking her up to an IV if you don't act fast. It's better to be safe than sorry, and it might save you from having to spend alot of money. Thank you.

Don't force her to eat and drink! That could do more damage than good. Take her to the vet ASAP, they can help.

I agree. You should really get her to a vet soon. When they don't drink in over 24 hours it can be serious I heard when mine had the same problem. Please let us know how she is . Thank you and God bless.

This is most likely a hairball, cats get them in their throats often. It's from grooming themselves. You can get hairball meds at any pharmacy over the counter in the pet section.
