I'm seeing this guy, but he just broke up with his girlfriend of 5 years one month ago. That doesn't settle well with me for some reason. I just broke up with my boyfriend too, but it's defenitely over between us. Is there any way of knowing if there's a chance he still has feelings for her?

Yes theres a chance. Not to sound mean or rude to you but maybe you might be his rebound girl. I mean i think when you break up with someone that you are serious about you need about half the time you dated them to get over the person. He might say he is over her but i dont think he is over her emotionally. i think maybe you if you really like him tell him you want ot take things really slow.

Some times it takes 1 month, but can take up to 2, 3 or 4 years.

I would think so. I especially after being together for 5 years, I mean come on. This is why it doesn't sit well with you. If I may I suggest that you take it very slow with him because he maybe just dating you to help him get over this ex. But honey don't put you self way out there for nothing. So take it slow until you are able to tell without creating a problem.

It depends on the personality of the guy, the reason for break up adn the duration they have been together and the times they have spent.
Its not easy to say whether he has feelings or not. But maybe if you knew the reason they broke up, it could somehow be a line to assess

yes but no, i mean you can never tell if i guy still has feelings for his ex. if they were going out 5 years and 1 month then i would be pretty suspicious

The relationship could of been bad for a year or more ~ !
I believe yes,
Its worth a shot, you don't know all the up.s and downs,
The relationship had, and for hard long ~ !

If he continues to call her or take her calls or emails, they haven't made a clean break yet and aren't ready to move on.
