Good one!! I think they are in denial. Before anything Else if one just looks at oneself i.e. the human body, brain that is a miracle by itself. From the beautiful oceans to the mountains and every breath we inhale and exhale, is it not a divine intervention?

Let's see...
1. Atheists as a group do not neccessarily believe that love is just a chemical reaction. They DO tend to believe that love exists in the brain, that it is an emotion, and like all emotions has a psychological reason for existing.
2. Even understanding that love is an emotion like any other doesn't make it any more or less romantic. We feel, the reasons we feel are complex, varied and multitudinous and they are not able to be reduced to any simplistic explanation.
3. What's more romantic? To believe that some all-powerful being created this emotion and put it in our brains, or that we developed it ourselves out of our desire for closeness, intimacy and a bond that transcends all others? Personally, I think the latter is VASTLY more romantic. I would like to think that I am responsible for the depth of feeling I experience when I look at my loved one, and not the arbitrary whim of a God.

As an atheist I believe love comes from respect and friendship. I believe that physical attraction is just a chemical reaction in the brain, since well that is proven by science.

Um, I'm an athiest, and while most things I suppose are ultimately chemical reactions, I don't think that has anything to do with the CONCEPT of love. Grow up and stop being a jerk.
Also, you don't have to be exclusively an atheist to believe in chemical reactions. This is scientific, and is not based on whether you have a religion or not.

Actually, they've got it part right. There is an electro-chemical component to all emotions, even those of faith and spiritual rapture. Clearly, the chemical enviroment of the brain can affect thoughts and feelings; but, being the romantic that I am, I believe that love is more than chemistry and is even more than emotions.

By atheistic thoughts, this very question and this very answer is just a chemical reaction in the brain of insignificant beings who evolved randomly.

No matter what causes love it can't ever be cheapened. Besides a chemical reaction makes a lot more sense then believeing that your all powerful loving god, has the power to stop all the violence and death in the world, yet chooses not to.

Being an atheist has nothing to do with love. My fiancee is athiest (though sometimes leans more towards agnostic) and I am Pagan. He loves me dearly, and treats me and our daughter like queens. He is a wonderful man. Just because he doesn't believe that Jesus is our Savior, or that a definitive Creator gave all of us life, does not mean that he is a hollow, lifeless shell. He is very much a man, who feels and loves like any religious person. I take offense to your question, on his behalf.

Athiests are morons.. thats intelligent!
When people quit bitching about each others beliefs, perhaps alot of fighting would cease! Religion is a personal choice! Some believe, some do not!
You think athiests are morons.. We live our life how we want! we make our own decisions.. You religious types.. You believe in a book.. You live your life the way someone else wants you too!
Too me.. Your the morons! However.. do I honestly think that.. No.. I respect your choice.. you should respect mine!

The person who asked this question must have very strong faith. I mean, to reject the concept of the human body operating via chemical reactions must mean that the asker doesn't believe in medicine. I'm sure that he/she donates all the money saved on doctor bills to the poor.

And when they marry they vow upon those chemical reactions to remain together forever. So very romantic. I am going to convert right now!
