Over the age of 35, the chances of a genetic problem do increase however a 43 year old woman, in good health and with good medical care still most likely to have a healthy baby. There are many screenings that can be done to check on the health of the baby.

It's scientifically proven that mothers over 40 have a much, much higher chance of having a child with more problems. The chance of having a baby with Down's Syndrome goes up 8 times, from 1 in 400 chance to a 1 in 50 chance, and it is proven that as the age of the mother goes up, average IQ goes down.

It is possible for your mom to have a baby at her age and there's a good chance it would be healthy but as a woman gets older, her chances of having a child with birth defects increases.

i think they both still can.

but i think the recommended age for a woman to get pregnant is up to age 35 years only.
