Mormonism is a strict form a Christianity that is looked down upon by all other sects of Christianity.
I do not believe that anyone should follow religion. Religion is nothing but a strict set of rules to control the masses.
Instead people should embrace spirituality. People need to follow their hearts and question outdated religious dogma which is harmful to society.

Some are more lax just as a lot of people are more lax than others on other things too. Strictly speaking, (no pun intended) the bible says you should wait till you are married to have any kind of sex. It is not like a car that you should go out and give it a test drive, even though many do it that way. It is strictly forbidden. Some churches do not teach it that way as they think more young people will come to their church if they are not so strict with it while some go with the bible no matter what those that may or may not want to come in would say. In the old days and even into the early 20th century, a man and woman did not even hold hands until they were married and when the preacher said, you may now kiss the bride, that was the first kiss they had done, none before that. They had a chaperone, someone that went with them everywhere so they did not venture into things they should not be doing. And kids today think they have it rough!!

Many Christian sects adopt the teachings of the Old Testament not realizing that they are adopting specific punishment rules, not meant for current practice, but they feel more pious, and holy a style of worship which Jesus talks against! No people can be Holy, thats a condition reserved for Heavenly entities, but try to explain that to those intent on diciplining their children Pre-Jesus. By the way, strictness on waiting for sex till you have a committed relationship is just common sense. Everybody gets tired of sex after 20 years, so if you haven't found a partner that does something besides behave good in bed, your in a world of difficulty managing work, home, and entertainment issues without help.

One denomination that compares very well with Mormonism in terms of its strictness is Christian Science. It is one of the most rigid sects in Christianity. This religion requires complete lifelong abstinence from alcohol, drugs and if you very hard line, caffeine. All members are expected to refuse medicines of all types as they are considered a way of denying G-d's supreme being. This includes denying treatment for cancer. Many Christian Scientist children have died as a result of this.

Mormons believe that Christ came to America. Wrote new scriptures on gold tablets which were found by Joseph Smith. The interesting thing is that no one but Joseph Smith ever saw the tablets. And he translated them by peering into a hat and talking to an Angel that no one could see but him. Then when he was done he lost those translation and went back to the hat and thought, created or got a different translation. Ever see Beautiful Mind? LOL. This puts the Mormon religion in perspective.
But you have to admire the LDS. Their members are nice to you as long as you aren't gay or black. And they have fun and are great baby makers.

Most of it comes down to interpretation of scripture...your more fundamentalist faiths tends to interpret it more strictly. You could easily run the full spectrum of sexuality by looking at various denominations of Christianity.
Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists...all very strict on sexuality.
Pentecostals are very strict, but more accepting of members who deviate at times.
Baptists? It depends on what particular branch...you have very conservative and much more open.
Then, of course, you have the debate over homosexuality...However, it is interesting to note that even the Pentecostals have a particular branch that accepts homosexuality.
Basically, your answer comes down to how a particular spiritual path interprets and applies scripture.
This all doesn't even include the more "cult" like faiths...oh my, that could be a post all its own. :)

I wasnt raised up knowing anything about Jesus really, and really didnt want to know. But if someone has been raised in church and has sex before marriage then it is wrong. But so many ignore that because they fall out of fellowship maybe, or the pressure is so much more than when I grew up. I feel sorry for teens who are growing up in the present day. So many parents only care about how good their student is in school, or if they are popular. Parents need to be more concerned if they know Jesus or not.

Because they all teach and practice something different. That is the difficult part of following any creed. It is constantly in a position of change as it is reviewed by their governing body which makes up the rules. It also makes it very difficult to follow.

Because that is their belief. It is a sin in their belief to have sex outside of marriage. Yeah Mormons really aren't Christians.

They need more members. Kids start quick and start pumping out more members. My 19 year old sister is about to get married to someone she has known from the church for a couple months.

You have the mistaken notion that Mormons are Christians.
Christians believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ.
Mormons deny this.
