For my mother's last birthday I went on ebay and punched in the year she was born. I found some amazing things marked with her birth year.

Does not matter what you buy for her. A diamond, car, or even down to the a single rose. It's not the gift that counts. It's who it's from that does. Just as long, that you show her you care. Thats what a mother loves the most.
The greatest gift you can give her is your love. I know you can't wrap it in a bow. Put it in a box, with a card on top. But saying I love you, and happy birthday. Is what she will hold the most.

Why not treat her to "her" day?
Treat her to a spa treatment, a special massage, a nice mother-daughter lunch. Does she have any particular things that she might want for her birthday?

Get her a day at the spa. I did that for mine and she really appreciated it. She said it made her feel pretty.
