Have a 2 yr old male and 4 month old female and my 2year old bit a kid and i growling at my kids. Is this because there is another dog in the house. We have had the 2yrold for a long time and just got the 4 month old. They restle and get along great. We are constanly worying about him running away when someone goes out the door. The pup runs out and comes back in. The big dog isn't nuiterd and do you think he is just frustrated because there is a female in the house and he can't get her.

fix BOTH of them, before you have a litter of pups on your hand. dogs can get pregnant as soon as 6 months of age!!!!!
that is UNHEALTHILY for mother and pups.

fixing the male might calm him down. he's 2 now...he's hit puberty. his personality will change a bit as he becomes an adult. get him into obedience training ASAP!

snapping at your children is a NO NO! he needs training now. and might as well start the female off with training too.

The fist thing u need to do is have the male altered!!! We don't need any more puppy's!!!! Thousands are being put down ever day! Sounds like the dog needs a training class. And would also help you with finding out the facts on being a responsible owner.
Also if a dog is being aggressive with a child,it might be time to find this dog a home with NO KIDS.....

This needs corrected now. The explanation I would give to you is going to be too long. In short, you may want to put a leash on the older dog while your home to keep him near you and for you to teach him to calm down. Someone in your house needs to take control of this situation before someone really gets hurt. You may email me if you want to discuss this further. Just remember the dogs are not at fault, you are suppose to be their pack leader or someone there is. These dogs are doing whatever they want to, and this is going to lead to trouble. Also, are you taking them for a half hour walk every day? Dogs need to walk no matter how young or small or big. Get them out there for a walk. Running around in the back yard is not going to take the place of this much needed walk. If you are unable to handle these dogs (I'm not scolding here), please find a trainer/dog handler in your area. Tell them what is going on and what is it that you can do to correct the situation. Take control. They are your responsibility, you wanted them. Thank you.

Your male is trying to establish his territory and show everyone that they can't take his girlfriend. His not wanting to come back in is further evidence of him trying to expand his boundaries and obtain more females. Your male is simply being a male dog. Neutering him will be a big help. However, if you allow him to continue to dominate the kids, he will always be their boss and be a potential threat to their safety. He has to understand that he is not "top dog".

1) is he neutered?
2) if he is neutered, he's trying to establish his authority and dominance especially if the child's attention went to the puppy and not him anymore (jealousy)
3) is he a springer spaniel?
4) make sure you have her spayed NO later than 6mos. it could be a "breeding" issue as a 4 month old is "maturing"
