To me as a Catholic Christian I consider it sinful to destroy this planet that God has given us. I believe that it is our responsibility as humans and as Christians to properly care for our home. I mean isn't it an insult to an artist if the caretaker of that art does not treat it correctly but scribbles on it and trashes it?

You may think that little candy wrapper is too small to count but even my sons can tell you that if everyone on this planet dropped one piece of trash that would be quite a few pieces of trash.

I am not saying this is from the Bible but I would consider it disrespectful to God. That to me puts it in the category of a sin.

Just so you know I am not stating that this is something listed in the Bible but it is my personal belief and I wondered if others felt so as well.

What is your definition of sinning? Aramaic was the language Jesus spoke in and the aramaic definition of sin is "to miss the mark". Perhaps this is why we are all known as sinners, because there is not one of us who hasn't "missed the mark", or done something the opposite of what was good, at some point in time in their lives. Please remember not to judge others. Put your energy into something like teaching children how to appreciate this great gift we have been given. To make my answer to your question perfectly clear though, YES.

Depends what you mean. Dropping a candy wrapper isn't exactly destroying the earth.
But some argue cars are destroying the earth. Is it a sin to drive? I don't think so, because in the New Testament, there were cars. In the book of Acts it describes a meeting of the disciples. When it was over, it states: "And they all left in one Accord."

Yes. In fact, if there really was a God, I would think our care of the planet to be the REAL test. Only those who could take care of and manage a world without destroying it would be allowed entrance into Heaven.
I mean really ... why would God want a bunch of destructive, selfish, wasteful people hanging around and messing up his pad.

YES! You are the only Christian I have heard express this, and it is totally Biblical.
18The nations were angry; and your wrath has come.
The time has come for judging the dead,
and for rewarding your servants the prophets
and your saints and those who reverence your name,
both small and great—
and for destroying those who destroy the earth."
Personally, I don't believe in the Bible, and if it were up to me, destroying the Earth would be considered the biggest sin there is.

That's a good Question. Well, since Sin is wide spread in this world. I wonder. If Sin didn't happen maybe the Planet would be in better shape.

Thank you for bringing this up!
I believe the Earth is sacred and should be revered. I am saddened by Christians who say that the "end times" are coming, so ther's no reason to preserve the sanctuary Earth.
I've mellowed, but I used to always confront litterers. No one gets away with littering in my presence. It's disrespectful.

this to me is just another example of your pick and choose christianity
show me one bible verse i have a new king james version i read it if thats not good enough i have a catholic one right up on the shelf
please tell me what reference
what chapter
what verse
isn't this just common sense, im an atheist and i know litering is wrong, and polluting is wrong
everything of yours i read saddens me and just makes me so grateful im not religious
not one bone in my body
and everytime i say i want to be someone who believes in the kingdom of heaven, and want to give my life to jesus, im just so afraid im going to be someone like you, who would post this,
and then someone like me, an atheist who might want to become a believer, would read it, and then beg for you to show me chapter and verse
i fear you might be the cause of my depression, its not my son who is on chemotherapy and losing his hair, its you, its you and practically every other catholic on this site with your make up the bible as you go along
i weep
jim darwin weeps
at some point im going to have to stop reading your questions

Can we please get off the whole save the planet thing already? Jesus H. Christ, between Al Gore and everyone else, I've had it!
No it's not a sin unless you do it deliberately to hurt other people.

Yes! It could fall under Pride, to think that we can just trash the earth....earth that God made for us.
