I do not intentionly cause this to happen, and would like to change it. I dont know how though.

don't always try to control her, but ask for her opinion instead. try to be a gentleman, not an asshole

She is responsible for her own boundaries and you are responsible for respecting them. Buy Boundaries by Henry Cloud.
