I want to pull my 99 Dodge Ram to Texas from California. I have'nt kept up on my mechanics.

The owners manual should tell you if it is 4-down-towable or not. If not, it may be less trouble to rent a dolly from U-haul and tow it like that. I know a simple trick to tell if a 4wd vehicle is 4-down towable -- put the vehicle transmission in park and the 4 wheel in neutral, if you can roll the vehicle, you can tow it 4-down.

or you can tie the steering wheel straight and tow it from rear the oil pump is driven by the torque converter some cars there driven by the shaft but very few they also have a kit that goes on the cooler lines and a electric pump lubs the trans

Seems every model of every make has different specs. concerning towing. Some can be towed, some cannot. Some can be towed at lower speeds for a limited time. You should always check the owners manual.

Either drop the shaft, or dolly it with the rear wheels on the dolly.
