Most likely she will pass it. I would calI the child's doctor for back-up, as none of us are doctors. He may have other suggestions. I'm sure you have already checked to make sure it is not lodged in her throat. Most parents of you ng ones know that you can't always catch every little thing that they might get a hold of & shouldn't. I am a mother also. I have 4 kids. So ignore those who try to lay guilt trips on you & the scare tactics, for your baby sawllowing the penny. Kids swallow their own teeth everyday as well, when the come loose. My own daughter has swallowed several things over time that we had to call poison control over; plant leaves both inside & outside the house, a penny, wild flowers, dog & cat food & even the handsoap in the bathroom, because it smelled so good she wanted to taste it & she was 4yrs old then. And my sister swallowed a nickel at 6 yrs old. They are both just fine. Passed it no problem after a couple of days. Good luck & breathe easy.

as you've read, the penny should pass through okay. Seems to be a common question. One time my dog swallowed a popsicle stick and it came out! A penny is pretty tiny in a little one. Good luck finding the penny!

I swallowed a penny before but it never got out of my body even when I am 24 years old today.
It's still inside somewhere and every time I get x-rayed, I can remember me swallowing that penny. Boy...
I'll be a penny's rich when I get six feet under.

I was watching TLC on the discovery channel just last week about this same subject (true story)..A young child had swallowed a coin that had lodged in her throat..The child seemed fine,,The parents didn't even know she had swallowed a coin. The child became very sick with a very high fever...The child almost died...I'm not trying to scare you.I'm just telling you what I saw.

Yes she will pass it. If not the next time she potty's then somtime soon. Make sure you keep it so later on in life you can emberasse her with her prom date by showing it to him and saying "Have you seen my daughters lucky penny? She has had it most of her life" ;)

I would keep an eye on her when she goes to the bathroom for the next few days. Make sure that it comes out. If it does not pass I would call your peditrician and ask for advice. If it doesn't come out it could cause serious health problems. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yes possibly but you need to keep an eye on it though I just went through this with my son, we had to have a Quarter removed from his stomach it was just laying there on the side of his stomach, it can cause ulcers and other types of stomach problems after a while if they don't pass it!!

Hello!
They usually do. I would check with her peds doctor and he can give you a time frame to wait for it. A bowel movement should be passed daily, so if you don't see it soon, I would check. They could use a simple x-ray to make sure it hasn't gotten hung up somewhere.
Happens pretty often though!
Hope it works out! (In more ways than one!)
