nevermind what these people think what do you think?
Do not believe something simply because you have heard it. Do not believe anything simply because it has been handed down for many generations. Do not believe anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe anything simply because it is written in Holy Scriptures. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of teachers, elders, or wise men. Believe only after careful observation and analysis, when you find that it agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all. Then accept it, and live up to it.

I believe God will let us into Heaven for doing the right things in our lives, because we can't help our ignorance if we don't have the correct understanding of religion or the Bible, or not the "right" religion according to many - but we always know the difference between right and wrong. So yeah, even non-christians can go to heaven by living morally correct lives.
Besides, I'm the gatekeeper, and I'm gonna let all good people in regardless of their beliefs.

Well first of all you have to know what the "right thing" is, and if you believe in the bible and god, which I assume you do, stating your wanting to get into "heaven". I do not agree with a lot of the bible as good.
As for myself I'm an atheist and believe that doing good in life is most important to you and others. You have to decide what is the "right thing". Society and laws can give you insight into this. My rule is to not hurt anyone, to try and love all and make this world a better place. We must live this life now, not for the afterlife.

Your question is such a vital one and I am pleased that some have learned the truth, yet surprised at how many have taken your need to know lightly in answering it. In many religions people are taught that they must adhere to values and perform in a manner so perfect that they will reach a state of heaven or nirvana. The problem with this line of thinking is simply this: as human beings we always fall short of the mark and will never be worthy. To compensate, we may give up a favorite food or activity and still fall short so our sacrifice is never enough. The disciple Paul said that which he does, he should not do and that which he did not want to do, he did. Remarkably, Christianity is not a religion, but a faith. Because we can not elevate ourselves to God's level, He has a way to come down to us. That is why he sent that which was good and pure (Jesus) to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins and to cover us in righteousness so we could fellowship with Him. Unfortunately, people don't read. But John 3:16 makes it clear, our being born of flesh into a world of sin separates us from God; but we can be reconciled to him simply by accepting his only begotten son Jesus Christ as our savior. He then makes us an heir and joint heir with Jesus as His child. You are being adopted by the Heavenly Father as his own child. And as your Father, he will always have a home for you in Heaven. Unfortunately, there are those who will not believe. Just as we don't invite to dinner those who do not love us, God in his compassion will not inflict himself upon those who do not love Him. So there will be no place reserved in heaven for those who don't care to learn of Him and love Him. After all, He loves us so much that he made the ultimate sacrifice to reconcile us to Himself. Therefore, His grace is sufficient. So, you need not be worthy, all you need to do is accept this precious gift and Heaven will be your home.

Yes.. provided you know what the "right thing" is, and it is the same as God thinks the "right thing" id to go to heaven, cuz, man... heaven belongs to Him, not anybody else, and in spite of what anybody says, only God makes the rules...
And I can see the others have told you what the right thing is.. Believe in Jesus Christ as personal Savior (which means that you need to believe that he is able and will deliever you from sin and the power thereof- and that He died in your place to pay the debt for your trespasses) and you're there!
I
I know it sounds like nothing, like you aren't actually doing anything to redeem yourself, but hey! Those are the rules into Kingdom come... you got no say except to say: yes!
love your ID name... cuz my eyes are hazel too!

The only "right thing" you can do to get into heaven is believe in Jesus as God, love Him and follow Him. If you do that, I will see you in heaven and give you a hug.

I promise that I'm not thrashing anybodies religion, these are just my personal opinions. Being the best you can be, doing all that you can for a good cause, that is what gets you to heaven. I don't think that just saying you accept Jesus is going to give a halo and wings. No, you need to dig deeper and find the passage to heaven in your everyday actions. Again, I'm not thrashing any religions, just my opinion.

If we all had to be "good" and always do the right thing to get to heaven, noone would be going. Eternal life is a gift from God. Noone deserves it. Noone can earn it. It is by grace alone that we recieve forgiveness. Jesus died as a living sacrifice for our sins. He did it for you. Nothing you do can unqualify you for his love. All you have do do is talk to Him. Tell Him that you have sinned. That you are not perfect. That you need Him. Ask Him to make you His. "Seek and you will find."

How could I know your" right thing" is not the "wrong thing" to others people? But if your " right thing" is mean you do something damn good for yourself and don't do anything that wouldn't make your parent proud. Then heaven it's in your heart.
