...or, conversely, are they still trying to sell us a bill of goods on the issue? Where do you stand on illegal immigration, what's your view, tolerance or enforcement?

I say enough is enough!
They get here so they get to stay and I don't care how many berries they pick or rooms they clean they are still getting food stamps paid for by my tax dollars and health care for their 20 kids they pop out every 9 months so of course they get to stay now because their kids are Americans and didn't do anything wrong so we can't deport them.
BS!! In what other country do those rules apply?

If I have a kid in Mexico he isn't a Mexican and if I have one in Japan he isn't Japanise so what makes these kids American?
If momma isn't legal the kids aren't legal and sorry if it sounds harsh but they all gotta go back to the country they snuck out of.

The nation's sharp division over immigration and border security is evidenced by the fact, that we have two bills and they both sit idle awaiting for a compromise. Meanwhile, Hesbollah has taken front burner.

I don't see much change coming in this administration. It's quite the Catch22. We need more immigration reform not just border enforcement. It is futile to think we can have a balanced discussion. The immigration debate is all about partisan politics in an election year. And my position is we need to address the millions of illegal immigrants already here in a sensible and humane way.

The Senate definitely DOES NOT get it. I thought the House of Representatives had a clue, but now I don't know. My view, and I have been quit vocal with all of my congressional members, is SECURE THE BORDER NOW, NO AMNESTY, NO GUEST WORKER PROGRAM. Just secure the border. Stop any more of them from coming in. Then begin deportation on those found in our country.

Our only hope is for everyone to continue to let our elected officials know that they will not be reelected to office if they don't vote the way we want them to. The easiest place to contact these "officials" is listed below.

Congress has resorted to dueling approaches, each side setting up their dog and pony shows; we are faced with Congress deciding to resolve forcing 12 million illegal immigrants to go home and deputizing the nation's police to catch them. Alternatively, Congress is further faced with the idea that it would cause several industries to collapse, creating yet a fugitive class afraid to go to the police to report crimes. This then could cause church leaders to rise up in massive civil disobedience; that leaves Bush to simply securing the borders properly by increasing border patrol. Does anyone really expect more than that? I think we are dreaming.

congress has yet to get anything over history. as a lobbyist in 1990 for injured workers. i found that all bills are so extensive that 99 percent of the bills passed are never read. they would never have the time to. as far as immigration. the government knew about it and kept letting it happen until it go to out of control. they know of over 15 million in the country. over 2 million in florida working the farms. the grower giants and company giants have control over the government. thats why nothing is or has been done. the can build a fence or wall. they will tunnel as they have. its bad enough they sneak in, but live here for years and talk about the american dream. then learn to speak english. as its the offical languange, should we have to learn to speak twenty languages to walk in a seven-eleven, a gas station, produce markets.

I don't think Congress cares, period. All the members of congress care about is $$$$.

I'm in favor of enforcement. Plain and simple. Just because you're poor and from Mexico gives you no exemption from the law, IMO. If poor American citizens are punished for their crimes and expected to abide by the law under penalty of imprisonment I don't get what makes poor Mexicans more special then us in our own country. It doesn't make sense and the fact that some Mexicans think they should get this special treatment reeks to me of a racial superiority complex.

No they don't get it the Senate just voted down money for the border fence, they are out of touch with the American people. especially the liberal Democrats, They need to enforce our laws and stop this globalization business. Bush is a Globalist and so is his father.

Not one bit. As a 4th generation Mexican American (emphasis on AMERICAN), I think we need to do something about the illegal immigrant situation and figure a way to stop illegals from coming over to our country for hand-outs!

Their Sponsors are pushing hard-they get it-they don't like it. They are hoping to distract us to Bush.
My view
Close the borders-send our American Troops there-we have plenty still here-have them put the fence up. Do what ever it takes.
