The other answers don't have much truth behind them. Laying on your stomach is very bad for you back and neck. Sides are okay as long as there is some support between your thighs so your spine won't curve. As a massage therapist I work the muscles everyday. I have been taught that the best way to sleep is to lay on your back with something under your legs (knees) for support. you are not supposed to sleep with a pillow instead to help the curvature of your cervical spine you need to rool up something like a towel and put it under your neck. I do it most of the time that way, but it does take some getting used to. Once you do get used to it your muscles will be all completely rested and you back will feel great. If you don't believe me then ask a massage therapist or chiropractor. They will give you the same answer.

My chiro says that sleeping on your stomach is the worst way to sleep. I was a tummy sleeper for a very long time, but have now been able to sleep on my side, with something between my legs. Hopefully, someday I'll be able to sleep on my back.

my anatomy teacher told me the best way to sleep is on your side, with your knees at the same level as your waist, with a pillow between your knees to keep your spine aligned

wen i sleep on my stomach, it hurts when i wake up and push my stomach out... i dont know why but it does.... if you eat late at night and you lay on your back, there is a possibility that you will axpeciate (choke on throw up) and die so on your sides
