yes, as far as the folks on the receiving end are concerned, send all the chew/dip that you want. If whoever gets it doesn't chew, I'm sure they'll find someone who does. Another big favorite is coffee. hard to get a good cup of coffee over there. Hard core porn is frowned on, but stuff like maxim and such would make someone a great care package.

yes the main thing that is prohibited in care packages is pork products{not just porkrinds...also anything that has even the slightest trace of pork}.alcohol and pornography.your family support group should have a newsletter with guidelines, also the unit or post website usually posts the latest restrictions.my husband is on his 4th tour in the big sandbox and snuff, cigarettes etc. are major comfort items especially if the soldiers are in a hot zone where they dont have access to a PX.some other much asked for items are winchester gun cleaning wipes(individual packaged)Q tips(to clean sand out of the guns.try oldsarge.com or rangerjoes for more care package ideas

I recommend beef jerky as a much, much better alternative. For one the life of the product, and most importantly the protein to keep you going.

yeah...in fact some are requesting it. If you haven't been to anysoldier.com you should check it out. They have a whole list of units and their representatives give you lists of what his/her people are requesting.
