I am speaking about my grandmother who has been ill for about 2 years now with 2 tumors behind her ear that are pressing on her brain. She is also in the final stages of dementia and has been taken off all medications in the last week except for pain meds to keep her comfortable. She is also running a fever from dehydration.
I just want to know how much longer her body may be able to hold on before she is finally at peace.

I hate to say this, but I think your grammie is going to pass very very soon. Probably before the next 1or 2 days.
If it helps any, renal failiure is usually not a hard way to die. Usually renal failure pts slip into a coma and pass peacefully in a deep coma and it is over quickly.
Blessings and peace to you and your grandma.

The prognosis is not great! Get to a hospital - if he/she isn't already.. Kidney transplant would be the only option I would think..

Not good. They aren't going to give a transplant to someone that age so all they can do it put her on dialysis until she dies, I am sorry to say. Happened to my grandmother, too.

Your Grandma is under Hospice care isn't she? It will all depend on how long her body will hold on. But, she will be received and you are aware of that part of her journey! God Bless you and your family.

probably not too good unless you get to a nephrologist (unless you have already been to one) and talk about options, including dialysis.
