We can have open borders. We can cut the border patrol instead of increasing it. We just need to do 2 things.
Make the minimum wage for aliens (legal or not) twice the minimum of citizens. The minimum wage could be adjusted periodically according to the unemployment level and economy.
Second, declare that undocumented workers who reside in the country during 2007 will never be allowed to apply for citizenship.
Employers would then only hire aliens as a last resort, and not be able to depress wage levels. Americans would have a competive advantage. Aliens would have a living wage and not require public assistance. If there wasn't any prospect of adding millions of new citizens, the political parties wouldn't pander to them.

You may yet get your wish...Congress has been passin' the peace pipe in recent months...stacking up another 2 billion a day in red ink...yaaay, Congress! November can't get here soon enough. Mexico needs to fix their own problems, and americans need to turn out and VOTE, for a change...

i say if we open the floodgates and let everyone in, then we should just take over the rest of Mexico, make it all America and then everyone gets to live in the U.S. (i know this would never be plausible, but it's a nice thought huh?)
