LOL...I wish it were that easy. Actually, I do think too many kids are diagnosed who probably just need some stronger discipline. But, there are kids who really do have an accurate diagnosis...and if taking the right medications, will finally be able focus and act "normal".

Don't judge too quickly...it's not just kids diagnosed ADHD who need whoopings! There are plenty of kids with NO mental excuse who should be punished a bit more severely. I always got the belt and believe me, I knew what respect was. Kids today don't have a clue what respect is.

It is real, can be devastating, not always accurately diagnosed and sometimes faked by kids to make excuses for acting up and not taking personal responsibility for their actions. Getting whoopings may be a positive discipline tool but the problem is the adults who would take advantage of this and beat their kids too severely or for stupid reasons like "he ate the last twinkie so i had to beat his @ss". Unfortunately medication has become an all too familiar way to deal with these kids rather than good old common sense and a swift kick in the behind.

My brother was diagnosed with ADHD after two years of psychiatric evaluation and adjustments to diet and physical activity. While I feel some kids are incorrectly diagnosed, I still feel ADHD is a real condition and it should not be underestimated or made a joke of.
