So, I'mm starting off in the business of advertising, which I love, by the way. I'm working in NY, the City of Size 0. I'm a thicker girl, African American, and very astute to what I want in a man. Good conversation, nice personality, etc. However, whenever I go out, guys don't seem to be drawn to me initially... and whatever guys are, they're not really on my level. (For example, I say the word "uneventful" and the guy says he'll have to look that up in the dictionary. True story.) Is a girl like me really that intimidating? I'm a little taller but I carry myself well. What do guys look for in The City? I'm not looking for a husband... just someone to have good conversation with. Is that too much to ask?

That's the thing, when guys look me in the face, they always compliment me on my skin tone, eyes, lips, smile. I do think I am very pretty, but I'm just not built like the waify models that walk around here. Are guys really that into thin girls instead of a thicker one with a nice personaltiy?

Girl i from NYC... and its crazy but the moment you stop looking and just "do you" your luck will change.
Some females, men just gravitate too.. yes that is true, however look at the type of men they attract.
I personally believe everyone has a "story"... thus why I always ask "what's your story". You could meet a man who is FYNEEEEE, nice car, articulate, no kids, with (ALL HIS TEETH)..... but he will be broke living with his momma or have psychological malfunctions.
I say all this to say... have some "you time" and chill out with the girls.... and trust when you least expect it... you will link up with a brother who is worth your time and will bring something to the table...... besides.... his 8-12 inch python...

ok a little heads up, unless you are a bad charactered person you are not unattractive. attraction lies in the character. being from NY does not make you unattractive. Im a guy from north carolina,and im ugly to beat all, but i still have girls swarming at me due to my character. and a good well spoken woman who says"uneventfull" is just showing her intellegence, which is also a good sign in anyperson(male or female). if a man has to look the word up in the dictionary dont worry, that just means hes not to intellegent.

Not in or have ever been to NYC, but guys are guys. You are asking for too much. Being a good man, women at bars do not want erudition, or elucidation, they want fluff. Guys want fluff too, except me, but I have been working on how to speak fluff.
Try to find other places where you may find more people like yourself. Don't give up on yourself. But babydiva? Are you putting out vibes that you are a snob, or something else that may off putting?

I don't like thicker, taller girls unless they had a really cute face. Good conversation is ok, but good conversation with beauty is better.

I like advertising too but Im going to do management instead of marketing.

it is a reasonable turn-off for some adult men. maximum adult men like their women human beings female (it`s what we adult men think of females are meant to be). Tomboy females oftentimes have masculine behavior and methods, and can look butch. yet with many it is purely slightly and that they improve out of it.
