What are the best "little white lies" your parents told you, when you were a little kid? And how did you react when you finally figured out that you'd been tricked?
When I was little, maybe 5 or 6, my parents told me that if I told a lie, it would make my forehead change color. I couldn't see it, but grownups could. I even tried telling myself a lie while looking in a mirror, but of course I couldn't see the color change! Of course, I eventually learned that my forehead NEVER changed color, and that my parents could just read my "body language".
Funniest part of all: my sister is married and has 3 little boys (one's just a few months old, the middle one's 3 years old, and the oldest is almost 6). One day, when I was visiting them, my sister asked my oldest nephew something (had he hit his little brother, etc). My nephew COVERED HIS FOREHEAD and replied, "no, mommy." I laughed like crazy, because my sister had obviously used the same trick on my nephew!
