In old testament times, people were required by God to sacrifice animals so that their sins would be atoned for. The priest would make these sacrifices on a regular basis so that the blood of the sacrifice would cover sins.
That is where the idea of a sacrifice came from. Jesus was sent as a sacrifice once for all (it didn't need to be repeated). It is the Christian and Jewish belief that there is no atonement for sins without the shedding of blood. That is why Jesus, the Christ was killed.

Jesus had to die in order to show us that there is life beyond. Mentally picture this: Jesus standing on one side, a line drawn, then darkness on the other side. He jumps over the line, then jumps back and forth saying "see? Death, life, death, life, it's not the end, it's just crossing a line"
He redeemed us by grace. Grace is God's way of saying "okay, so you can't follow every law Moses wrote down, so what? Come, take My hand and walk with Me anyway".
Perhaps the part you are missing in this bit of history is that the Jews at that time (the Pharisees) thought that the laws of Moses were more important than what was in their heart. That's the gist of the parable of the Good Samaritan, as well as the heart of almost every sermon that Jesus preached.

God wanted a true relationship with the world and all the people of the world and the only way that could ever happen is through the blood of Jesus Christ. If that never happened then our lives would be worthless. There would be no point to anything.

Are you talking about JEsus?
Well, if you are, here's my answer:
After original sin entered the world, God's wrath poured out on his people. He closed the gates of His Kingdom, thus preventing eternal life. The Jews needed to make animal and food sacrifices to please the Lord and temporarily cease his wrath. When the Son of Man came, the Messiah Jesus Christ, he died on a cross as the ultimate sacrfice...after he died the Lord's wrath permanently ceased and eternal life became possible again. That's how Jesus' saved us all...or at least those brave and smart enough to believe.

Without our faith we would have nothing. It was more than the death of a man. It was the death of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in human form. The bible is God's Holy Word. God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die for our sins so that we can spend eternity in heaven. He loves you very much! Jesus shed His precious blood for you and me. By His death on the cross He paid the price for our sins (suffered our punishment). By His blood we are washed clean.

well the "one man" was sinless, that's the key and His name is Jesus Christ. now, when we sin we lose our connection with God, we have to atone for it. in the days before Christ, man had to shed the blood of certain animals in sacrifice to cover the sin so God could see us again and commune with us. but that wasn't enough for the animal blood only covering the sin because the sin was still there not allowing us to get into heaven. so God needed a perfect sacrifice of human blood without sin to rid or remove the sin of all time forever. so Christ died with His perfect pure soul so we can get into heaven. He paid the price for all of our sin of all time. only if we accept this great sacrifice into our hearts will we get into heaven.

in religion, there are no plausible answers that ive seen. i dont see how an entity that is perfect, with infinite love and understanding could kill. according to the bible it happened twice, once by fire and once by a flood. to me it is one contradiction after another. i think human beings are not intellegent enough to comprehend the afterlife, you can talk to all the holey joes you want to and they will come up with something, but i think they really just dont know.

Logic. Adam was a perfect man who gave up his perfect life in sin and therefore condemned all his offspring to sin and death. Jesus was a perfect man who gave up his perfect life in death to balance the scales and therefore redeem us all. Now that's the logic but here's where the faith comes in...we have to be willing to accept it.

Because a sinless man brought sin into the world and separated us from God, it took the sacrifice of a sinless man (Jesus) to remove the sin that separates us and to bring us back to God.
