They put these electrons on your head and they're kind of glued to hold the wires to your head. And while you sleep, the machines keep track of the waves in your brain, and this way they check your sleep pattern.

Word of Advice: Be patient when washing your hair the next day. It might/will take some time getting the remnants of the glue out of your hair.

Study then sleep is the best way. Keep in mind that until you're around 20 years old, your brain requires 9.5 hours of sleep each night to operate at it's peak.

They sometimes stick electrodes to your head & upper body by using a sticky tape that is clear & kind of rubbery to the touch. These small 50 cent size metal & plastic electrodes are stuck on certain parts of your body & hooked up to monitors by a thin electrical wire that transmits your brain signals & pulse & heart rate into a machine that records this info while you are sleeping. Most sleep studies are done by having the patient stay overnight. It is 100% painless, although it is a little uncomfortable when you roll over on your side!

My grandma had that kind of study and i went with her. As what i understood of that study is to know if you have apnea (stop breathing for few minutes) during your sleep. Most people that have apnea are those snoring loud. During the study, they hook you up with electrodes in different parts of your body mostly in the head part. And they monitor you during your sleep. Good luck!

If we are talking about the same thing, they are gonna put you in a room a hook you up with a lot of cables and stuff, they did that to my DH because he has "Sleep Apnea" that is when you stop breathing for a few seconds, several periods of times when you are sleeping, if they diagnosed you with that most likely they will give you some sort of machine that has a mask attached to it and you have to sleep with it every time, they do that to stop the apnea and it also gets rid of the snoring. Good luck

Basically they observe you while you are sleeping. Heart rate, blood pressure, breathing (especially if you have been referred to evaluate for sleep apnea).

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!
