If you pray for something, and God doesn't want to do it, He won't. However, sometimes God wants to grant a blessing, but the granting of the blessing depends on our faith. In that case, He will give you what you pray for.
Prayer doesn't heal, but rather God heals. It's unclear how much more powerful this is than the "placebo effect" type of healing that you are suggesting, but I know that God exists and that He can heal.

Since I'm a Christian, I believe that God does answer prayer. I have had many experiences and instances that prove this to me.
Faith in prayer leads to healing, but also to be aware of the fact that God -that is, if one believes in God- can choose to answer, to not answer, or answer a prayer differently than what one had in mind.
Human beings can make determinations, but if it is not part of the will of God/not part of a cosmic plan, then it will not come about. If human determinations could make things happen, then loved ones that have died because of illness, or by accidents, or by faults of others, or of their own fault, would not even occur.
There are arguments that if such a God exists, why do we suffer in the first place? Well, what people fail to understand is that many events occur- both benevolently or malevolently by human hands.
The rude salesperson that refuses to do the job, a person that cuts off another on the road, someone that leaves the scene of the crime when they know it's their fault... These are the examples I see of human suffering, small in scale but with repercussions.. caused by human beings.
In these instances, I blame man, not God.

I believe it is us that have the ability to make things work. Two hands working do more than two hands praying. Prayer is a form of meditation, except some believe that if they just pray things will happen. God helps those who help themselves, they say, of course this is not in the bible. So we can assume that we have figured out that prayer does not work.

The Bible tells us that God hears ALL prayers, yet He comes to a decision a thanks to respond to each and each and every. those who've a personal relationship with God understand this and settle for His judgements because prayer isn't a paranormal formulation, an incantation that brings forth God like a Genie from a bottle. We should be careful no longer to fall into the catch of performing as if God is our slave, a personal magic genie, we may be able to call upon to do OUR bidding no remember what. In prayer, we commit to bear in mind that we are His slaves/servants to do His will - no longer vice versa. Our want ought to hence be in route of His will for our lives, no longer our personal. we ought to always pray with this "qualification" in suggestions.

Yes God Almighty will really answer his/her prayer. It is not coincide. But God will answer us if we work hard to achieve what we want.God spoke in Holy Qur'an that God will not change a fate of a race or ethnic or anyone if we ourself do not make all effort to change our fate. But if we try hard to change our fate without Godblesses we can not reach it.So a proverb tells 'man disposes God disposes" is really true.We should try our best to acieve what we want and besiudes that we should pray also to our God asking help to realize our objectives. We should pray in a calm condition, usually after midnigt to pray tahajud or istiharah for asking guidance from our God to a right path or right choice.

In my opinion I would say we definitely do have the power to heal for this reason, satan has been stripped of power- Absolutely no power at all.Okay,I got into witchcraft when I was young and stupid and I know for a 100% that what I got was absolutely not coincidence.Okay where did the power come from,Now you can read in the Bible that we have been given Authority and Power over all the power that the enemy possesses and nothing shall in anyway harm us.So what happens is satan cons us into letting him focus our power in wrong applications and deceives us into thinking the power came from him. When he has been stripped of power. And we have been made just a little lower than Angels. And remember GOD operates in Faith,Love, and positive.satan steals our power by keeping us negative,selfish,self-centered and on and on.So in my own opinion I believe if we focus on JESUS we can obtain the power to do anything at all.The reason we need to go through JESUS and pray in HIS NAME is because he gave us all that awesome power that Adam and Eve gave to satan,And GOD will not go through that again,so JESUS holds on to it for us.Kinda like safe keeping.MAY GOD BLESS YOU.

No, all prayers that seem to be answered are pure coincidence. Prayer doesn't work, it's just a superstition.
This video will explain why:

If you would say: I had ability to make myself well. The question is: Who gave you that ability? Well, you will say, I was smart enough and I did it... Then, the question is, who gave you that wisdom? Did someone teach you? Then, who taught him?
Don't you see, that things points toward God?
