When they first siad this was a life threatening injury the vet was serious. Horses can die from lamanitis. Anything can casue it from stress to standing on one foot to much.
This is a long hard raod for Barbaro and he is going to have to fight to stay alive. He seems to be in good spirits and that is a major thing. Sometimes when horses are stalled up they get wound up and fight in the stall and hurt themselves worse.
I would like to see him make it and have a nice retirement somewhere. But I would like to all the race horses have that.
I own an ex racer. They make wonderful riding horses as a sceond career.

I don't know if he will make it or not, because I haven't followed his progress that closely. I was bummed out to the point that I didn't even finish watching the last race of the Triple Crown when he dropped out. I have been waiting forever to see a Triple Crown winner, and I'm beginning to think it will never happen in my life time. I hope he makes it. He's a beautiful horse.

It was very unfortunate what happened to him and his chances are still very slim but we are all pulling for him. He was one of the best horses i have seen in a long time and if this tragedy didnt happen i believe he would have ended the draught and won the triple crown. It also didnt hurt his chances that he had the best jocky in the world riding him but thats beside the point

No one knows if he will make it. **IF** he doesn't founder and IF the front feet don't get laminitis...IF the foot grows back. Too many IFs.
He is popular. Movie worthy - dunno. It was said one would be made of Smarty Jones. And before then Funnycide. 5 years from now few will remember him.
:-(
He is a nice horse...could have maybe been a champion. I hope he makes it. I hope he has a long and productive life as a sire.

I have horses. If it was my horse I'd be gathering all the semen I could for artificial insemination use later. If he takes a turn for the worse I'd put him down to end his misery. If he gets better well then I'd offer a deal on the cooled semen and turn him out to stud for the big bucks. Stew

i feel really bad for him. Ive worked it horses all my life and even if a horse is limping its a very big deel it can lead to a knot in the muscle of its other leg. But with all thats happened to this poor horse I hope theres still hope in him. if it can get better i hope they go for it. but if hes in pain the should just put him to sleep. I just dont understand y these trainners dont get ther horse physicaly checked and doctors apoval before they race.

I really, REALLY like this guy.
He is soooo talented and is soooo courageous.
I can't imagine what he's going through everyday.
But the end is near.
It saddens me to say this...but he will not make it to see September.
It would be great to see a movie made about him but the ending would make it a sad movie. A real tear-jerker.
