Hi how about this i went into the army when i was 17 also when u are in boot camp you look all the mail u can get. Don't write a poem just send letters every week about the things the both of u did, tell her whats going on at home and on the streets. Get some of her friends and let them write to her also get a group shot of friends and family and send that to her trust me she will love it. I spent 20 years in the army.

If you want to send a poem, go to the library and review some poetry books; perhaps you'll find one to your liking or inspiration to write your own.
For awhile, you may find it difficult to write every day, but do so - and don't be discouraged if your sister doesn't always write back. Many a soldier says there is nothing better than "letters from home."
When you have writer's block, send a comic or article from a magazine or newspaper - keep it light-hearted and maybe something to remind your sister of good times you've had together.

If you can come up with a few words - great. But she is in boot camp right now and that means she only gets to eat cafeteria food at certain times...except - for the food that comes in care packages! Send her some of her favorite food in the mail! Now that will be a hit! I was in the Navy, so I know.

my husband is in the navy and depending on what branch i remember his boot camp was 9 weeks long not including all the schooling he went through. after all was said and done he came home about 6 months later. write her is all i can say. it does get lonely at times but hey that is the military and it is that way time to time. enjoy the times you are with her and always let her know how proud you are of her. i have been through deployments too. from there on it doesnt get easier. support her in her choices and know you will always be sisters first!!!!!!!

Don't sweat it!
Basic Training or "boot camp" only lasts a few weeks.
Don't write her too much; she will have to do push ups to get her mail. It was 15 for every letter when I was in Basic.

Easy.. instead of concentrating on a POEM.. just sit down with a pencil and paper and RAMBLE.. Just put down what you are thinking at the time.. I think she would enjoy that MUCH better than a poem.

the letters from family and friends will help her make it through. sometimes we have to let things go to love it even more when it comes back to us. be strong and an example for her. after all you are big sis.

it depends what "boot camp" she's in. life is not that hard. help her out and send her pix and postcards. she'll appreciate that lots.
