No!
The camaraderie and patriotism our nation exhibited during World War II was indeed one of the silver linings of a terrible situation. History has shown that when a people, even a diversified people involving many countries, is faced with a common threat to their way of life, then this group of people will act together toward a common purpose against this threat. Working together toward a common goal backed by common, vehement beliefs results in great camaraderie. However, recreating war to artificially create camaraderie would be a "slap in the face" to human life and those who value it.

HELL YES! This right now is the greatest generation. If I'd been Pres after 9/11 I would have put the country on rationing for some resources (like gas for starters), even if they weren't in short supply, just to make everyone feel the shared sacrifice & daily reminder of the gravity of what we're in right now. This is not like Vietnam or Korea or Gulf I, this is the equivalent of WWII, and the battle for public oppinion right here at home is as important to victory as military victory or hearts & minds abroad. Right now the enemy propoganda machine is winning that part of the war with a little help from selfish people here at home. Gear up civil defense though & use some of the tactics of the past to get the population in a new paradigm. We've become soft & we need it.

Thinker, why do you think that it is only in war time that people can have a sense of camaraderie and community? These things are not dependent upon war, if we have lost our sense of camaraderie and community, it's our fault, and we should strive to get it back.

what and the killing of innocent civilians, sure thats a great idea. I do see your point though, it would be nice for that camaraderie to exist outside of crisis situtations.

war is not good people should look too how good there life is now and compare it to how they would be living then losing friends and family does pull people together but would you rather have a close bond with your family and friends for the sake of loosing several friends and family ?
