Répondez S'Il Vous Plait

French for "please reply".

It's often written on invitations. You ask people to respond so you know exactly how many of them will be attending the event.

RSVP is French. It stands for "répondez s'il vous plaît," which just basically means "Please respond"

When you put RSVP on an invitation, for example, you want the person you're giving the invitation to to call you or something to tell you they can or cannot come.

Respondez s'il vous plait. It's become the short form that you add at the end of an invitation to let the person being invited that you want to know whether or not they are coming. eg. a wedding... it's hard to plan if you don't know whether 50 or 200 are coming. It lets you know in advance

If you're asking "what does each letter mean?" then I don't know. But RSVP means to reserve...like, make a reservation.
