Restaurants have all sorts of different names. I always associate the name Cracker Barrel with something from the past not anything racist.

No. Cracker Barrel is designed to resemble old fashioned general stores. Back in those days, general stores would sale crackers from barrels by scoops.

No it isn't racist! I believe my mom told me that they used to sell soda crackers out of barrels in the old country stores in the South! My mom should know as her father owned a store!

Well as long as the people who own it are crackers it is okay. The same as if the Mexicans who cross the border illegally were to open a store and call it "Wet Back River ". I do not think you can be a racist just because you call yourself a racial slur. It means you have a warped sense of humor.

Obviously, you are not versed in American history. In the early years of our country, packaging did not exist as it does today. Soda crackers were stored and shipped in wooden
barrels. Cracker was also a name for men who drove wagons and used whips to motivate the dray animals. When the whips were applied to the animals, the resulting sound was a " loud crack".
