Depends, is he playing or actually trying to cause harm?
Playing is something that can be easily fixed. I use a spray bottle for my cattle dog w/ some tobasco sauce in it. Spray it near its face, around the mouth area and tell it no. After a few times, it should get the hint. Though you will have to bathe it more often to get that stuff off (they don't like the taste generally), its mostly effective.
Trying to physically hurt him is a different story. Let your roomie spend some quality time w/ your dog while you're there. You want the dog to understand that the roomie is good and that he/she doesn't mean any harm. Reward him w/ treats and reassure him that the roomie is good, generally done by saying "good boy" and stroking him.

Some dogs are just plain territorial. Others have a strictly one-on-one reletionship with their owner. They react the most to movements, sounds, smells or someone acting aggressively to their owner or food dish.
If Your dog just does not want anyone close to you, tough luck, your roommate may need to invest in boots and shin-guards. If not; it may be something she is wearing that disturbs the dog. try having her bathe and disrobe in front of you and your dog. If your room-mate is a guy, you may want to leave the room. If you realy like your room-mate and she is willing to try this, make the dog leave the room.

That's a tough one. My first guess is that your dog see your roommate as a threat to it's territory or your attention. Is your dog normally social, if it is, than there is something about your roommate that is off. I would look into that (animals usually have good instincts about people) If your dog doesn't like other people as well, it might feel nervous around people and needs to be socialized. Hope that helps - Good Luck!

Maybe your dog does not like your room-mate, or maybe your room-mate smells like food.
Could also be because your dog thinks you are the boss and it's trying to put your room-mate in the "proper place".

Maybe ur roommate isn't very friendly towards dogs. Animals can always tell when some1 isn't nice.

your dog doesnt like him or your dog isnt used to him/her being around so the dog doesnt think that you are safe and feels that he/she needs to protect you
