They will let you in with a major hearing disability. The guy up at the recruiting station told me how to pass the test, so dont act like the military is full of perfect soldier, jerkoff.

Actually someone asked me a similar question a couple weeks ago! It was a little different since the person was looking into the Naval Academy (would potentially need a medical waiver for it to continue application process). But I have looked at the website that addresses medical issues for the military & there was nothing like 'we don't accept those with any kind of hearing imparments'. It will also depend on how major your imparment is. You will need to make sure it is addressed appropriately, but I'm sure they will find something for you to do, especially if you want to be in the military. Good luck!

I don't know of any hearing specific rules for any particular job, just eyesight. Check out the forums on military.com for a better place to ask this question. Recruiters there have nothing to gain by BSing you & will give it to you straight. You local recruiter if he can get you past meps & you medical while at training, you still count towards his quota, though that's even more sleazy than most recruiters I've ever met would try. Don't try the Air Force, being that they're RIFing a ton fo folks this year (laying them off), it will not be very easy to get any kind of waiver. I don't know what your level of empairment is, but I'd caution you that there is a minimum standard & you really do need to hear effectively from commands in formation at boot, to a safety brief later on, to any job I cna think of. If it turns out you cna't join, there are several toehr ways to effectively serve your country, including in the defense department. Thanks for your dedication & interest, I hope it works out for the best!!

Go ahead and try. You do not have to have perfect hearing to join the military. Do not try to cheat on the hearing test, they will catch it. If you fail the hearing test, ask for a "waiver". If you are granted a waiver, you will serve in a non noise hazardous occupation.

In the U S Army and the rest of the military, you have to be in
perfect physical health or they will not accept you. There is no jobs in the military if you are hearing impaired.

By all means sign up. Don't worry about a position. You are the best candidate. An enlisted person that can not hear the BULLSHIT. You will only be denied if you have a heightened sense of smell.

If you can't hear people speaking, you're totally out of luck. I have tried really hard may time. I was in ROTC all way through high school and military still won't take me in. I have asked for waiver and they still will not take me.
