What's probably happening is it's going to the CD-ROM drive, finding nothing there, and then going to the floppy disk.

You have to configure the BIOS to go to the hard drive as the first boot device. Depending on what type of BIOS you have, you may be able to turn off all second and third boot devices, or remove the floppy from the list of devices to boot from. You'll have to play around with that part. But this is a 100% BIOS issue and has nothing to do with Windows XP.

Also, you may have a "boot other device" setting; be sure to disable that.

Change the BIOS to read the HDD as the first and second boot device. Then remove the floppy drive. As long as it is still plugged in, it will still read it.

If your BIOS allows you to disable the Floppy drive in the Boot Sequence, then do so. Then make your hard drive the first boot device, not the CD-ROM drive.

By pressing F2, (or whatever the setup is at the first screen when you boot up) you can disable the floppy read. I had to because It came on, I dont even have a floppy!

Take the disk out of the floppy drive.

That's simple. Just take out the floppy disk. Then once it starts up, put it back in if you need it.

There is another BIOS setting for "floppy disk seek on startup" - you need to turn that off. It's not XP that's doing it, it's your BIOS.
