If it were written with only human intelligence, I doubt seriously people would follow it for very long. As it stands, the Bible is still a worldwide bestseller.

Let's take a look and see if we can't find God's hand in the mix. We'll use the last twelve verses of Mark, since there seems to be a dispute among scholars if these are actually part of Scripture:

There are 175 (7 x 25) words in the Greek text of Mark 16:9-20. Curious. These words use a total vocabulary of 98 different words (7 x 14), an exact multiple of seven. That's rather striking.

Try constructing a passage in which both the number of words and the number of letters are precisely divisible by seven (with no remainder)! The random chance of a number being precisely divisible by 7 is one chance in seven. In seven tries, there will be an average of six failures.

The chance of two numbers both being divisible by 7 exactly is one in 7 to the 2nd power, or one in 49. (This is a convenient simplification; some mathematical statisticians would argue the chance is one in 91.5 ) This still might be viewed as an accidental occurrence, or the casual contrivance of a clever scribe. But let's look further. The number of letters in this passage is 553, also a precise multiple of seven (7 x 79). This is getting a bit more tricky. The chance of three numbers accidentally being precisely divisible by seven is one in 7 to the third power, or one in 343. This increasingly appears to be suspiciously deliberate.

As we examine the vocabulary of those 98 (7 x 14) words: 84 (7 x 12) are found before in Mark; 14 (7 x 2) are found only here. 42 (7 x 6) are found in the Lord's address (vv.15-18); 56 (7 x 8) are not part of His vocabulary here.

This is, conspicuously, not random chance at work, but highly skillful design. And remember, this was written in the first century A.D. So, if an unaided human could not recreate this scenario, what is left? Alien influence? How about God's handwriting instead?

Not human fraud. It was done through men by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Besides the Bible fits too well together to be fraud.

I think it's more of a human collaboration over the centuries. Some stories were meant to explain the unknown, some were symbolic and meant as an example of morality, some may have been true, just over-exaggerated with all the translations. And then some stories were meant to manipulate - women are sinful, obey me or go to Hell type-things. And then there's King James & the whole divorce thing... Oh, and the Apococrypha (sp?) didn't agree with some editors' agenda, so it was tossed.

Def. not divine, though.

One more thing: I agree with launarine : the Bible wasn't written by men in their right minds.'

Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Bible and through the miracles that took place during his time they were accepted as being from God. Prophets that came later wrote about some of their experiences and what Heavenly Father wanted them write. As society changed it became more aggressive in defending their way of life and ended up killing the prophets, because they didn't teach what they wanted to hear. After the prophets had been killed men took over and put the writings of the prophets together and interpreted them in their own way. For good of for bad. Since individuals still have experiences they look for the source. The Bible is that closest source that they can find, but the confusion is the interpretation of it. Only the prophets can lead the church in the direction it is supposed to go. Only the individuals can block out the experiences that Heavenly Father has to offer us.

I believe it was written by men who were inspired by God. If it were merely human fraud how would it have true prophecy in it. Also why would so many people who wrote it have died claiming it to be true, some of the people who wrote it were not highly educated and yet used such great language. Looking simply at the bible and not even at other evidence it looks to be true.

yes the Bible is really from God. He inspired man to write his bible. And no man in their right mind can get up and write the Bible. The Bible was first written in Greek then later transfer into different language.

The Old Testament is the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of an ignorant bunch of wandering Bronze Age goat herders. That's not fraud... it's just a literary curiosity. Only the New Testament is a human fraud.

As the Master so truly said in Matthew 16:26, "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul [life]? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" That is a question that every person must answer for him- or herself. No issue is more important than your personal salvation. Where do we fit into this picture? We are admonished in Philippians 2:12 to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."
I affirm not only belief in God the Father and in Jesus Christ as Creator, Designer, and Lifegiver, but in the Holy Bible as the inspired revelation of Almighty God (Psalm 12:6,7; 119:89; 2 Timothy 3:16). You must now choose whom you will believe and obey: the speculations, ideas, and theories of menor the inspired Word of God. My earnest prayer is that the Lord God of Israel, the Almighty Creator of the infinite universe, will grant you wisdom to make the correct decision and the faith to believe and obey His Word.
