You are describing yourself as a "sociopath," that is one who does not feel empathy with or for someone who suffers. However I wonder if you're not really describing how you think you might feel if confronted with the act of taking human life. Have you ever actually watched someone die? Someone you care a great deal about? If you have and you "felt" nothing then you may very well fall into the sociopathic or psychopathic area. I was in war and saw death up close, even caused it, and I can tell you that something happens to the brain to help you deal with it. On the other hand, I watched my poor Mother die recently and I was devastated. What it really boils down to is whether you care about people or not. The terrorists who justify their acts of mayhem certainly have no regard for human life. They care more about their ideology or twisted sense of religion than about human life, no matter how innocent. The same was true of the nazis and communists. The ends justified any means used to achieve success. In the march of history millions upon millions of innocent people have been slaughtered.

Now you think you are peculiar because you don't think you feel any affinity with those who have lost their lives. Perhaps you are "cold hearted." But you won't really know until you lose someone you really love. That is if you have the capacity to love.
