i have a recipe...its nutritive and fun to eat for kids:
its called...Alfreado mostacollioli...its an italian pasta dish.
INGREDIENTS:
1 (16 ounce) package mostaccioli
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

DIRECTIONS:
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
Combine heavy cream and butter in a Dutch oven or large, heavy saucepan over medium heat. Heat until butter melts, stirring occasionally; be careful not to bring mixture to a boil. Stir in Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Toss with cooked pasta and serve immediately.

Don't forget Rice Krispy treats-- they'll probably need some help mixing it up, but it's gooey & messy & I've yet to meet a kid that didn't like making something gooey & messy! Any other no-bake desserts would be good if there's no time to measure ingredients & bake. (just watch out for those directions, I totally screwed up the Reese Cup one 'cause I read the directions wrong!)

Make the simple Chocolate Chip Cookies. Kid's love that stuff 'cause it's high in fat and freakishly sweet!

Snow cones orslushies get some ice a blender and flaovered food coloring then blend. or ice, fruit and blend great for this heat wave fun for them to help make also

Macaroni and cheese. Fancy it up with ham cubes or cut up hotdogs, etc. Let the kids choose.
