I write lots of letters and when I put them in the mail box I feel a sense of loss like a part of me was given away in those letters.
A part of me wants to hold on to all the notes and cards I write because they give me a sense of worth and security.

Has anyone ever flet this way about the things and people they love?

Hmmm... Sounds like the "Encourager" could stand a word of encouragement, huh...?

Your sense of worth and security are misplaced, in my opinion. They should be derived from the sure knowledge that you - yes, even you - are a child of God! That means that you have a heavenly Daddy who knows and provides for every need you'll EVER have! You have a heavenly Brother who DIED and rose again for you and enabled you to do the same!

Still not enough...? How about knowing that YOU'LL spend an ETERNITY with Him, the rest of us believers, and our heavenly Daddy FOREVER without any evil ever getting in the way again...! Sister...?!? It just WON'T EVER get any better than that...!

Ponder that for the rest of eternity...

Yes. I have. I think its because a part of you is in the words of the letter that creates the sense of loss when it's mailed or emailed (^.^). I know that some people make copies of their letters so that they can save it and keep it close to them always before sending it off.

Sure I have felt this way. You are giving a piece of yourself away with every letter. If you miss them and want to reflect on them then make a copy of them before you send them out. It helps me to do them on the computer so that I know what I have said and when. It isn't as personal as handwriting them but you have a copy to look at any time.

It might help if you kept a copy of each letter for you to keep too.

Absolutely! I once refurbished an old baby doll to give to charity and I put so much love into her I cried. (I am NOT a doll person, btw)

it may be because in the back of your mind there is a thought that
you shouldn't disclose your private things because there is insecurity and that somebody can harm you.
