OK.. he has been having issues lately (see my other recent questions if you like..) I am supposed to get a stool sample from him. I have 3 vials from the doc, but my problem is he is having such watery diarrhea that it soaks into his diaper on contact, and the samples are not supposed to come in contact with urine. Any suggestions on how I can do this? I was given a hat, and watch for when I though he was going to go, I put him on (he was on for 10 minutes) RIGHT when I took him off and got his diaper on he went.... Its like he waited to get off the hat. Please any suggestions/ helpful hints anything would be appreciated!

They should have given you the plastic bag that goes over his penis that collects the urine and leaves the stool you need as the only thing that is left to collect in the nappy.
If you can devise something to cover his penis and catch the urine then it will work well. I would use a small plastic bag, and some hypo-allergenic nursing tape to secure the bag around it....then keep checking his nappy for the stool samples.
Do not give him medicies to dry up the watery stools, I suspect the reason they want samples in the 1st place is to see what bacteria..if any, is residing in it and causing the watery stools...you do not want to mask the thing that you need investigated :)

it is organic for them to have those "off" nights. Assuming that he isn't any longer unwell, possibly he's hungry or bodily uncomfortable. If different kinfolk individuals are shifting about the abode, he may cry because he must be a component of the action. Is it plausible that he's not responding nicely to exploit or certain meals? Watch that too. youthful ones may be dramatic now and again even as they prefer mom's interest. The extra disillusioned they develop into, the further stupid issues they do, sticking hand in mouth, scratching own pores and skin, pulling own hair, throwing toys. it is an illustration of a few style of misery. attempt a bedtime ritual of interpreting a thrilling storybook of his finding out on each nighttime after he's tucked into mattress or sing his well-known music with him. supply quite some TLC and ultimately he might want to get right into a rhythm.

do you have any plastic underwear? If not buy one, and put that on, and as soon as you think you see the signs of him going, wait till he is done then take the plastic pants off, they wont absorb the bm, and if you get it right away, there will be no urine in it....
Only suggestion I got. If you called the pedi and told him you were having an issue with collecting, they may resort to a more evasive procedure which would be very uncomfortable for you both, depending on the seriousness of having a collection of it.

My sons doctor has these little bags that have something sticky to hold them to the skin. They fit over the gentials and are great for when they need a urine sample. Maybe your doctor has some that you can use to keep the urine out of the diaper. Good Luck!

you might want to call the Dr. again and tell him the problem.. i remember when i needed to get a urine sample for my daughter when she was an infant they put a bag on her.. almost like a band-aid with a bag attached that stuck around her private. once it is in place you can put the diaper on with the bag in it... It's worth a try... I think the only place that would have it is the Dr.'s or if you are close to a hospital call there.. Good Luck!!

tape something inside his diaper, that would have contact with his bm before it hit the diaper.

Something as simple as a small square of construction paper or a paper towel. Something that can be peeled away from the diaper when he goes. You can then use that to get your stool sample from.

I have had this happen before and I was able to take a recent diaper with a BM in it to the doc ASAP after it happened.

Your doctor or a nurse in his office must have run into this sort of problem before, I suggest you give him a call and ask for their advice.

at that age it isnt going to be easy...the only thing i can think of is to give him cheese or something that would almost stop him up a little bit...or just tell the DR that it isnt possible and he is going to have to work with what you can get for him.
