I'll tell you something....I can't believe most of these answers!

These 'Bible bashers' are so narrow-minded, they remind me of Lemmings jumping off a cliff!

Despite all the 'goodness' and 'honesty' and 'love' and 'peace' that is preached in the Bible.....millions upon millions of innocent men women and children have died in the most barbaric way in the name of God over the past 2000 years....

...and don't give me the 'God moves in mysterious ways' cliche, if there was a God who 'moved' in this way then the human race would be a lot better off without him/it!

Yes, I believe everything in the Bible. However; times have change and so has the human understanding. There are many symbolism or saying (wineskins, cloaks, etc;) that no longer apply but can easily be transferred into our modern day function. Case in point would be certain foods that the Israelis were forbidden to eat. No with better cooking habits; its ok to eat things like shellfish or even pork. However; people do forget the essences of the Bible. Basically its a historical fact of the relationship that exist between God and man; and how man should treat his fellow mankind. I find the Ten Commandments not to be antiquated but in fact applicable to our modern times. There in some cases scientific fact to support and backup stories that existed such as Red Sea senario when the Israelis passed on dry ground and the Egyptians were swallowed by the flooding waters receding.

How could somebody believe everything in the Bible if there are contradictions? No, I don't believe everything in the Bible. Also, I think that most people who say "Yes" to this question haven't read the whole Bible and don't know about some of the things it says. It isn't necessary to believe everything in the Bible if you don't believe that the Bible is truly the word of God. I believe it is the word of man, written to try and define God and his attributes. Just because Genesis chapter 9 says that God loves the smell of burning flesh as a sacrifice doesn't mean that I believe that that's actually true. I'll end this with a quote from the Bible, you decide if you believe it to be true or not.

" From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths."--2 Kings 2:23-24

And here's your Biblical command for the day. Follow its order if you believe the Bible 100%:

"If a woman approaches an animal to have sexual relations with it, kill both the woman and the animal. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."-Leviticus 20:16

No way. I believe that the 'facts' have been distorted by history and the various translations. I also think there's a fair chunk of it which was created by people writing down stories told to them from other people, a bit like Chinese Whispers. Some was even written about Chris's adventures 100's of years after the event! (apparently)

Besides, aren't there different versions in circulation today? Which one should be believed?

Only a fool would believe everything the Bible said.

Ok, people above me...the Bible says that when a woman is menstruating, she is deemed evil and should be locked up and kept away from people, and if the husband sleeps with her, it's considered a sin. Now, does that make sense? One of the many examples.

I use to believe bits& pieces in the beginning when learning about the bible, but the more faith I had & grew to more knowledge to believe in something I take a 100% you eithe accept all or nothing. Plus looking at the history channel with archelogical findings, it helps me even more, but even without evidence I'd still accept all.

I believe in the Word of God. It is pointless and the most futile endever to believe in Jesus or to call yourself a Christian, which simply means 'Christ follower' if you don't believe the Bible in its entirety. As it says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made." and "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth"
In other words it is impossible to believe in Jesus without believing in the Bible as Jesus is the Word made flesh, the Word complete and whole.

And in reference to others who have posted. I have read the whole Bible, studied it, defended so called 'contradictions', have yet to actually find one, have studied other religions, and my special areas of study are logic and science.

the bible is either a guide for life put in simple terms or a novel someone wrote which has been taken and run with. I bet he would have loved the royalties if that were the case!

Oh, heck no. It's the biggest game of "telephone" ever. It's been translated a zillion times even before it got to english. Everyone who touched it inbetween put their interpretation on it. Sometimes innocently. Translate phrases from one langauage to another, and the meaning can change even though it's the best transaltion available.
