A person needs to follow their heart, not the doctrine of another person. I am Pagan because that is how I see the world, how I see life. I see it as a living thing and I see multiple deities. No one told me to do this, it is simply how I see life.
I think that if being a Christian makes your heart happy, then don't worry about others. It's between you and your god. It's no one else's business. That is the difference between religion and spirituality. I cannot believe that any god would reject a person who has been a loving, good person, good neighbor, no matter what label they placed on themselves or society placed on them.
Chill and go about your communion with your god, and don't worry about what others think of life.

I only consider myself an Athiest because I don't have a specific god that I am loyal to.
I see god as a crutch. For 1000's of years, every civilization has had one god or another. Waaaaayyyy back, we looked up and said "what the heck is that big, bright, hot thing up there?" "That, that's the sun god".......Anytime we have a question we can't answer = god. God is our answer. He gives us something to pray to, someone to hope for, someone to blame.
For the exact same reasons that I believe he doesn't exist, is the exact same reasons I can't just not believe he exists. I need someone to blame, I need someone to hope/pray to (don't pray, but with for things to happen which I identify as praying).
So for the same reasons (above) that I think he is just created out of our minds due to our need for the above, is the same reason he 'does' exist. I'm kinda, on the fence on the issue.
But! There are 100's of religions and have been likely 1000's over our history as a species. Even when/if I do go to one side or the other on the issue, I could never be a Christian. Nothing against you or others who are, but I cannot have blind faith like that.
The bible is full of contradictions, discrepancies and things that are simply not true. Like Adam and Eve. I am a firm believer in Evolution. Now, who's to say god didn't create the universe, and the one celled orginisms that eventually over millions of years because human. Sort of a, 'God's Master Plan' which included evolution. But in no way should ANYONE Christian or not, believe that two people populated the earth. Not to mention the fact that the bible says the Earth is only like....6000 years old or something ridiculous like that.
Adam and Eve, and other things are simply an attempt to explain our creation by someone waaaayyyy back, when science was not a science. This story and the bible itself is a product of the time in which it was written.
I wouldn't care so much if the Church adimited these are simply stories to teach a lesson. Cause I have nothing against the meaning or teachings of the bible, but will never accept that these things are historic fact. Like Noah's Ark.
A story meant to teach a lesson and nothing more. But the Church will never admit this and stick to saying it actually happened. We have NO scientific evidence of a global flood. And we WOULD be able to tell if something so big happened. For example, we do know that the mediaterrian sea did flood, approximatly around the time that Noah's Ark was said to take place. That flood would have been much of the known world at that time, but still....was not a GLOBAL flood.
And think about.....even a team of 100 people couldn't gather ALL of the animals in the world, let alone two of each. Two Hippos from Africa, two Kangaroos from Austraila, two polar bears from Antartica, two fire ants from Mexico......it's simply not possible.
And did you hear about some person trying to get a museum up and running that promotes that Dinosaurs were included in that list!!!! Obviously an attempt to blur the Church's statement of the earth only being 6000 years old.
So, in conclusion to my drawn out response to you, while I could never be a Christian, and I do consider myself to an athiest, I do still 'somewhat' believe in god for the blurry reasons above and may....one day....come to accept some form of religion....but not likely.

There is quite a bit of evidence against it. I do believe that evolution took place, we know evolution in general happens, so it makes sense that humans have evolved. In fact present day there is proof that humans are evolving, wisdom teeth were once needed and now are no longer so some people are being born without them. I also think it is quite egotistical to think that there is a high power out there and that it is that concerned with what to it would basically be less then ants. I think religion was created to keep people in line, give them a guideline, hope when they feel none. I also think that believing that there is a God and that Gods biggest concern for you coming to heaven is against everything I am. I would never want to worship a God that cares more about someone believing then being a good person.

Hi ya,
These are a few of the reasons why I don't accept that a god exists or created this universe.
Lack of evidence
No reason needed
Illogical concepts of God
Too many differing world religions, why does one have the answer.
Ill-design in nature, either poor design (our eyes being wired backwards) or evil design such as parasites, parasitoids, and well any disease for that matter too.
Natural disasters occur all the time causing widespread death and destruction in a totally impersonal way.
Other plausible explanations with evidence to back them up, such as Evolution.
Your whole personality - what make you you, including your morality can irrevocably change from any dysfunction, injury, or disease of the brain. Or indeed practically removed intirely.
And probably some more I couldn't think of at this moment in time.

I’ve seen a lot of religious imbeciles and hypocrites, and the thought of spending eternity with them would be horrific. On top of that, I’ve spent quite a bit of time recently contemplating Christianity. For one thing, why would God be male? Women give birth and thus make more sense as an ultimate creator. Being male also entails having male sex organs; why would God need genitals if He’s the only god and, being all-powerful, He can presumably make things without help (and is thus asexual). The only reason the Bible would need to say God is male would be to make women second-class. Basing a religion on misogyny is definitely not something I can get behind.
For another thing, there’s the whole question of heaven and hell. Basing someone’s status for the rest of time on maybe 80 years on Earth does not sound like the supposedly all-knowing, all-powerful, loving god Christians claim Him to be. If He knows everything, then He knows whether a person deserves eternal punishment or eternal happiness before they are born. And if He knows a person’s eternal status before their creation, then He creates people to burn in hell, which means He is not a caring, loving god. And if He does not know how badly a person will ‘sin’ before they draw their first breath, then He is not all-knowing. Basing someone’s afterlife on their choices in life means people actually have a choice, which means He is not all-powerful. And that means the Christian God is not a god at all, but the results of thousands of years of hypocrisy, cruelty, and the taint of human power struggles. Religion is a crutch for those terrified of death and responsibility – those who need to blame God for their own faults and mistakes (and thank Him occasionally to avoid accusations of hypocrisy) and those who think a half-century of adulthood isn’t nearly enough time to accomplish their goals, that infinity sounds like a much better work schedule. Christianity also says that daughters can be sold into slavery, sons can be cursed for laughing at their drunk, naked fathers, and children in general can be killed for insolence. It also says that Jesus, who supposedly came from the Middle East, was white.
Based on my own reasoning (which my parents and evolution gave me), I have come to realize that there is no god. I have also realized that this is not a problem because I do not fear death – I am always prepared and early for things, so I can accomplish plenty of things in my time on Earth – and I do my best to claim responsibility for my failures and my successes. Being atheist does not devalue my life, nor does it make me a bad person. I realize that I’m being a bit unfair in dismissing all religions simply because Christianity is flawed, but most religions have had a jihad of some sort and, even if they were simply the victims, that’s something I’d prefer not to get tangled up in.

I believe God exists but I don't believe he created the universe single handedly.... it's just too simply put... how could he just have said 'let there be x' and it appeared? with the big bang and other theories, there is some believable and very plausable reasoning behind the theories. it isn't just written in a book. I find it hard to believe in some thing unless there is some physical proof for me to see...

I can only answer with a question:
What makes you believe that your one religion is the only correct version of the Truth?
As a Christian, do you not deny the existence of EVERY OTHER God known to man?? Why do you deny their existence (besides the fact that your religion REQUIRES that you do....suspend that notion of being required to disbeleive and ask yourself why you do not beleive in Krishna, Allah, Bahopmet, Mithras, Zoroastrianism... WHY? When you have reached an understanding of why you do not beleive in those stories (because they are fantasy, myths, not based on anything factual), then you will start to understand how we can deny the existence of your God.
You and I are both Atheists - you deny the existence of all other Gods. I just beleive in one less God than you do. (THink about that for a moment....you only beleive in one God....and I beleive in one less than that...)

Give me a good reason to believe it and i will. And I mean a GOOD reason not that it will save my soul or cos the bible says so. Now I don't mean to be offensive to you either but you have asked this question as if it is an odd thing to not believe in something which has no real founding, other than people around you have been telling you about it since you were born.

The hypothesis of God isn't necessary. However, suppose it was necessary. Suppose God did exist. God is revered as the Father of all humanity. What Father could allow innocent children to be mutilated and killed by the millions due to war, famine, poverty? If humans are to follow the example of the "Heavenly Father", then they should simply get their mate pregnant, then bail on her, saddling her with unbearable debt in the process and ensuring that she will never adequatly be able to raise the child. Such a father would leave loaded weapons laying around the house, and tell his children never to play with them, but do nothing to stop them when they do. Such a father would command his son, who obeys his every wish, to kill his other son, who doesn't listen so closely. Now, tell me, is this a God worth following, if He exists?

Go to the site, Why can't I own a Canadian? Just search for it, the website is too long to remember. It shows the odd laws in the bible. I believe in kindness and avoiding waste when others are in need. I have met too many Christians that used their religion to grab for themselves.
