Maybe the people who convert the most have a better chance of getting in. Like the girl scouts: whoever sells the most cookies gets a prize... (I had heard of the limited spots thing before, too, unlike the other answerers.)

The vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]
Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind
Here is an interesting link about how Jehovah's Witnesses know that the 144,000 figure is a literal one:

The reason theres only 144,000 space on earth is cause Jehovah's Witnesses think that all the other good people are gonna live on earth since theres nothing wrong with the earth.

LOL I wasn't aware there was a religion that limited the number of people who could be in heaven at one time! Think about how many people are alive right at this moment! Not even everyone alive on earth NOW could go to heaven with that little space, nevermind throughout all of time! How sad!

I think you are confused. JW are not the 144,000 that the Bible talks about. Those are the Jews that will come to Christ during the tribulation. And that doesn't mean they are the only ones to get to Heaven. It is a prophesy about what will happen during the tribulation period.

Who told you that lie? There is enough room in heaven for all that are converted and the angels and then some. I'm not a Jehovahs witness.

why don't you read your bible in the king james. it says the same thing as our bible says. no we are not trying to change your religion, that has to be between you and God Jehovah. your bible also says the meek will inherit the earth. we as Jehovah witness did not make up the 144,000. read your bible, your preacher does not want you to ask question, he only tells you want he wants you to know. we don't make things up. I am sick and tired of people saying we make things up and call us a cult. you are a cult not us. Jehovah anointed the 144,000 not man. look into our web page www.watchtower.org

Jehovah witnesses are a cult. In actuality, the 144,000 that are sealed are from the tribes of Israel. 12,000 of each tribe.
seeing that Jehovah witnesses are not Jews, I cant see how this applies to them.

We know that that number is the Jews that God decided to save even though they arent Christians. They believe that those are the one who will be saved and that any little thing can keep you out of heaven.
