It sounds to me like you may have a type of Psoriasis on your scalp. There are some over the counter shampoos such as Neutrogena Tgel to treat Psoriasis. You may want to see your doctor about it. If you do have it your doc may send you to a dermatologist for further treatment options.
Best wishes! :)

I have the very same thing...it is really annoying as i have very long hair...it is dermatitis and could have been sparked off by the hot weather, stress, allergy. The best thing would be to see your GP to have it diagnosed properly...to be fair I haven't seen it myself! However, I put my hair up in bed and apply aqueous cream mixed with a little eumovate to the area at night. This makes it all greasy so I wash it out in the morning with treatment shampoo (like neutrogena or other hypoallergenic shampoo) then apply a little bit of aqueous cream to keep it moist (this reduces the irritation in itself, but if it carries on itching during the day i just stick some more eumovate on (twice daily is fine in short term and you can buy it over counter). You say you are worse at night so I suggest you apply the eumovate at night only to start and use aqueous cream to moisturise the area during the day. Remember to put the cream on the scalp and not just on the hair or it will not work as well.

Sounds like psoriasis..This skin condition normally runs in families..I dont think its eczema because thats when your skin gets tiny red bumps and itches and normally forms on your arms and legs...But psoriasis is dry white skin..people get it on there hairlines..elbows...any areas when the skin becomes scaley and dry...You will probably need to go get a special shampoo from your doctor or a cream if thats what you have...Go get it checked just to make sure..but im pretty sure its psoriasis...

this sounds very much like eczema; try aqueous (really cheap for a large tub from pharmacy) cream to start with , you can use cortisone cream but it does cause thinning of the skin!! get the doc to check it out. It always get worse when stressed and certain foods irritate it. pork and prawns make mine worse

Sounds like scurvy to me! Not really, maybe it's a reaction to sweat if you've been hot today. Try some coal tar shampoo and go see the doctor.
