The current record time for Alpe d'Huez is 38 minutes set by Lance Armstrong. A good oprocyclist in the Tour usually completes it in around an hour.
Your own result will depend on fitness level, weather and wind conditions and even the weight of the bike you are riding can make a difference to the final time. A fit amateur should be able to do it in 1-2hrs, and a leisure ride would probably take about 3 or so hours at normal pace. Just use a low gear and remember to drink lots. Good carb-based food before the ride is also a good idea. It would also be a good idea to speak with a sports doctor before as well.

Lance Armstrong received the time trial up Alpe d'Huez in 2004 in a time a 39 minutes, 40-one seconds. a guy who rides on an similar newbie club interior the U. S. as me (he replaced right into a category 3 USCF rider on the time) has executed it in fifty 4 minutes, if I remember properly. The competition interior the excursion de France commonly finished it in between 40 minutes and 50 minutes (those interior the race who take 50 minutes can likely do it speedier, yet are not in widespread competition and vacation more suitable slowly to look after ability).

From the bottom of the mountain to the top? It's about 9.5 miles if I remember, so for professionals a good 25-30 minutes (averaging probably around 15-19 mph).
And 14.5 km at 36 km/h is 24 minutes, not 40. (There are 60 minutes in an hour, not 100.)

Lance Armstrong holds the record, 38 minutes.
Average cyclists usually go 1:30 to 2 hours.

Actually Lance doesn't have the record for the fastest accent. Marco Pantani does at 36:50. What is more remarkable is that Pantani did this during a regular stage and Lance's fastest time was during an uphill time trial.

Its 14.5 kms. That means for the pros, if they go 36 km/h, they need 40 minutes. And that's fast. So if an average person wants to cycle up, one would need about one and half hour. About that. Or you died before of an heart attack ; )
