Because they are taught that everytime a naughty thought such as the brutal sado-masochistic sexual assault of a shaved monkey with a giant foam "#1" hand, they should say "awesome" or "God" instead.
And when you shock them enough times they will.
Oh, and you need to stop talking to Christians who live in the year 1986.

Maybe it's the culture you're in. I mean I am a Christian and I don't use the word awesome a lot. Maybe the people that are Christians that you know aren't well educated so they don't have a wide enough vocabulary to describe things that they like besides using the word awesome

Why does the word "awesome" annoy you so much? It's just another word for "amazing" or "incredible". Are you bothered that Christians are enthusiastic with their belief in Jesus and God and that they recognize how truly wonderful Jesus and God has been for them in their lives?
Before you place judgement on anyone on this earth, I suggest that you investigate for your own self why Christians are so enthusiastic about Jesus and God. Perhaps once you have found out why, you may change your mind about us.

Christians aren't the only ones that use that word.
Awe or to be in Awe of Him, it is a fittingly descriptive word for God. If you look at a thesaurus, try to find a more fitting word!

I use "Awesome" constantly and I'm not Christian. I guess it's just one more thing the church has co-opted from the pagans--like Halloween and Easter.
That's totally not awesome. Not awesome, indeed.
Actually I might go so far as to say it's totally bogus, bra!

LOL, that's a cute question. Teenagers use it a lot too. Christians use it to mean "full of awe." I think ANYONE who uses it too much is annoying.
