We are taking him to the vet first thing in the morning.

Could be a number of things, but we'll hope it's just a bladder infection.

My dog is just recovering from a bladder infection, what the vet told me before it was diagnosed (urine test) was that it could be:

1. Bladder or urinary tract infection
2. Crystals
3. Bladder stones
4. Kidney problems

I wouldn't worry about it until you have to, you're doing the right thing by going to the vet first thing. It'll probably be just a bladder infection and your dog will be fine :)

Woah! ouch! Yeah it would probably be good idea to take him to the vet. He might have a a kidney infection or something related to that. I hope he feels better and good luck with it!
