Could it be possible that we created the earth and unverse like a computer program kinda like the matrix or 13th floor and choose to have experiences here. The big bang was the program booting up for the first time..I guess we all would be 'god' if he were schizophrenic j/k but kinda ...... :D Why is this experience so worth having....Maybe we have more worlds to create ;)

There are a number of scientists (not just stoners!) who have not only asked this question, but presented full-blown theories about it.

I myself have wondered if, when I die, I might wake up in a pod, thinking, "Wow... that was a good game. Who should I be next?" And, really, as silly as the average person thinks that idea is, is it any sillier than believing in a magical man who lives in the clouds, playing a giant game of chess with a red-suited, pointy-tailed demon, to determine the fate of human souls? There's about the same amount of evidence for either theory...

In fact, the other day, I was thinking about quantum physics and philosophy -- specifically Schroedinger's Cat and the "If a tree falls in the forest with no one around..." question -- and it struck me that it was not that different from video games.

Schroedinger's Cat basically suggests that an object which is unobserved remains in sort of a quantum possibility limbo, with all of its possibilities existing simultaneously, but none of them resolved into reality. When the object is finally observed, one possibility becomes reality and the other waves collapse (or branch off to form alternate universes, if you subscribe to the Many Worlds theory).

I'm a videogame designer, and in games objects are made of polygons. In order to free up memory, we often cull the backfaces of objects -- meaning we don't draw polygons that you can't see. I.e., if you're standing on one side of a toolshed in a game, the side you see is there, fully-drawn. The opposite side -- the side you can't see from your vantage point -- is not drawn. Thus everything you see in a game becomes a facade, with no backside to it (until you move around to observe the other side, and then it will be drawn... but, of course, the side opposite that is no longer drawn).

Anyway, point being: There's a similarity there. Not a direct connection or correlation, but a similarity... and I find it interesting.

If you're interested in reading more about the idea you've asked about (and similar ones), I'd suggest:

The Holographic Universe, by Michael Talbot

I haven't read it in a while, and so don't remember if he makes the direct connection to computers -- I think it was written before computers were as ubiquitous as they are now -- but, from our modern vantage point, I think the connection is definitely there to be made. Anyway, give it a read. I think you'll find it interesting...

You sound like a prime candidate to read David Icke's book "Tales From the Time Loop." It deals with just these sort of questions. You should also read other books of his like, "Children of the Matrix", "And the Truth Shall Set You Free" and "The Greatest Secret"

My personal belief is that you're right... in a way. Reality isn't so much a computer, but with how we use technology today, I think that the Computer is a good analogy. If you remember the Matrix trilogy, when Neo was outside of the Matrix he was still able to use his powers in the end. The Matrix is just one level of the illusion. It could be Zion and the world outside of the Matrix was actually just a different aspect of the Matrix that we call reality. There's something bigger beyond that level of reality. A real truth.

They shouldn't quite cos there are not any holo transmitters contained in the corridors. This became shown contained in the episode the large see you later even as the gangster Cyrus Redblock left the holodeck and disintegrated. in spite of the indisputable fact that a significant gaffe occurred in episode Angel One (2 episodes later) even as Wesley Crusher became taking area in contained in the snow on the holodeck and the doors opened. Captain Picard and Worf both decreased in length a exceptionally contagious virus from being hit by technique of a snowball. In different words they both stuck a chilly! lol:-D

Well, that is the concept behind the Matrix and the 13th floor, that you could technically immerse yourself into a reality and exist as someone in that reality without even knowing that there is another reality above yours.

This was also done in an episode of Star Trek:TNG when Picard lived an entire life as someone else from a planet long gone and this only took a short period of his time.

There is absolutely no reason to remove this concept from a possibility. It is entirely possible that we exist here as who we are, and we may even exist in another entire reality as someone else who is 'jacked into' this reality as who we are now. We could live an entire lifetime here because we volunteered to enter here as entertainment or for education.

Interesting question. Great job.

I think it is a bit. I also think we move up a level with each incarnation, till the soul has learned all it's lessons. Then again, each level could be another world in the spiritual realm. I don't think Earth is all there is.

I'm honestly not stalking you, I just LOVE your questions. They make me ponder.

Sounds like you have been doing scientific testing on the BIG BONG theory. Sober up and find Jesus instead of dreaming up wild silly "not possible" what if scenarios. It wastes your time and brain power.

Anything is possible. Perhaps we have already created other worlds that we aren't even consciously aware of!
