I saw a new book out at the book store. I think it is called misquoting Jesus or something like that. The author said the early scribes that coppied the Bible made mistakes and made up things. I know they didn't have copy machines a long time ago and scribes had to copy the Bible. This guy says, scribes made up the part where Jesus found an adultress and asked for the one without sin to throw the first stone. He said it is not in the original. Dose anyone know about this?

Excellent book, the author went to the same seminary as Billy Graham so he can not be considered a left wing radical.

He cites numerous mistakes in earlier transliterations and points out that the copy used for the KJ bible was one of the worst translations EVER.

The bible as it is known today was assembled by MEN in the 300s, they picked and chose the parts they wanted making the Jews, not the Romans responsible for the cruciFICITION and denegrating women so that they could keep the power. Think about it, if their were 12 Aposotles plus Mary, why only 4 Gospels?

This is where FAITH comes in.

If you say you believe in God, then you must believe that
God KNEW and always KNEWhow to take care of His Words.
He knew exactly who was going to be the Scribes in the days of Jesus and the translators in King James day with the King James Version.

God makes no mistakes so don't be afraid to believe that the Original Holy Bible is the True One for God would not have allowed Himself to be associated with error in His Word, and He is the Word.

"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God" John 1:1

The devil will always try to confuse you with "new versions" and "new thoughts" to make you doubt.
But don't doubt the Original Word of God and God's way of presenting the Original Word was with the original scribes and then the English version was translated by King James. It's called the Original King James version.

God is not hit and miss. Or else He would not be God.

So don't even LOOK at those other false versions and commentaries and nonsense.

Don't give the devil a chance to blow your mind.
Just simply believe God and His Original Word.

It's true. There are 5000+ ancient copies of the Gospels floating around, and they contain more discrepancies among the set than there are words within a given set! Many of these errors are simple copy/translation errors, but many more are wholesale revisions.

But even something as simple as a transcription error can result in an entire new theology as far as religious books go. The NT has Jesus coming from the city of Nazareth as fulfillment of prophecy, but there is no such prophecy in the OT (this was due to a transliteration error of the word Nazarite, which means "someone devoted to god" rather than "someone from the city of Nazareth")! Not only is that a major blunder, but the church later invented a city of Nazareth to cover this mistake.

Another classic error is the mistranslation of Venus to Lucifer. This resulted in an entire 'fallen angel' theology, even though the original reference to Venus was an allusion to Nebuchadnezzar, not to a demon.

I certainly have seen an 1800 and probably a 1600 i won't have the ability to recollect for beneficial KJV. different than the definition of the words in the back dictionary it hasn't replaced..however the definition of the words properly capacity plenty. greater cutting-edge variations have replaced the notice single to straightforward...seem alike yet do no longer propose something the comparable. so some distance as going back further than the 1600's i do no longer understand. Unchanging eternal notice of God? the character of life is substitute and God is continuously changing as life does. The clues are all around you. besides God isn't a e book...the notice is the aum, the amen the vibration that comes from previous that holds up creation. pay attention to your coronary heart, your coronary heart knows the certainty. you do no longer could seem to different individuals to tell you the certainty.

That's mere speculation since the author of that book wasn't there to know the truth. The passage that he is citing is missing from some texts and present in others. What is important to see is that there is no contradiction between what occurs in that passage and the other accounts of how Jesus taught and lived while He was here on earth.

That passage shows that He was indeed full of grace and truth and that He knew how to extricate Himself from the schemes of his religious enemies by showing them the truth about themselves.

There is a difference between "making something up" and some copies of the original text not being as complete as other copies.

I know that if they did they have been checked and double checked for 2000 years by many skeptics and scholars and then in the last century, the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered at Qumran. They are the oldest writings that we have today and have confirmed the Bible translations that we had before in amazing ways.

They have a fabulous exhibit at the Museum of Arts and Sciences about the origins of the bible. A little of the info is on their web site www.moas.org

first off I am a christian and I do believe in God. That being said I find it so funny that most Christians will think that a book written by man can be infallible. Yes it has changed over the years. things have been changed or added to suite the times. It's the way that humans work if we can't get people to do what we want by being in control of the government we will get them to do it by saying their god told them to. That's why you should question religion, not God if you do indeed believe in God. The bottom line is that in all religions they have one thing in common a Davine creator. And that is the answer for people of faith if you think the bible my be miss quoted then through it out and hold to God. I mean he did say worship no other before me and when you put unquestioning faith in the bible that's what your doing.

I have heard of that book (Misquoting Jesus). With so many people involved in writing down the contents of the bibles 66 books, plus all the translations over the years, it would not surprise if there are errors in content. However, I do not believe there are errors in the context of the message God has for mankind. I firmly believe that Gods message has been preserved.

There are several theories out there about the bible and its contents, some people claim a lot of the Bible to be false. In my opinion the bible should be taken as fiction, not literal. But I do not consider myself to be a christian and do not follow the bible. It is also my opinion that you should not let other peoples theories challenge your beliefs. If you want to believe that all of the writings in the bible are true that is your choice. In the USA we are free to believe what ever we want.
