if your brush has balls on the ends and some balls have fallen off , then get a new brush. one with no balls works best (i like denman, personally)
if your comb has snaggs where the plastic has melted , then get a new one. a double dipped large toothed comb for long or thick hair.

do you typically blow dry? leave about 8 -12 inches between your hair and the dryer. don't blow dry up side down. dry in the direction of hair growth.

shampoos and conditioners won't help.
get rid of any products that contain glycerin.

if a split end is left alone it will split all the way to the scalp and cause other hairs to split also; so you can't just trim off the splits on the outside layer of your hair and expect them all to be gotten.

section off horizontally from ear to ear. grab a section of hair and twist it smoothly down to the end. see the split ends popping out? snip them off. keep sectioning and twisting and snipping.
split ends all gone.
you might need to get it restyled (different cut) after getting every last split end, but your hair will thank you for it. and your hair won't tangle as badly, either

I have the same problem. I live in the high desert, so the air is really dry. I've heard that when you shampoo your hair, you should only shampoo the scalp (the excess shampoo with run down the shaft of your hair and clean it). And when you condition your hair, you should only condition the ends. That includes a regular conditioner that you rinse out or the leave in conditioners. You may also want to find some good hair products that contain alot of protein. Two products that I just started trying are REDKEN Extreme' Anti-Snap, and the K-PAK Hair Repair System which contains a shampoo, a cuticle sealer, deep penetrating reconstructor and an intense hydrator. I bought a small 1.7 oz bottle of the anti-snap and the K-PAK kit was $20 for the kit. The anti-snap is a leave in treatment and the kit takes about 20ish minutes to complete...so make sure you have enough hot water! lol I just started the kit yesterday and it takes a few treatments to notice, from what the salon said. Good luck! :)

you first have to cut it shorter than the split ends are, have to cut into the healthy hair. you may need some more protien in your diet, will help you produce healthier hair and thicker as well. I am a nurse and have seen alot of people loose hair because of lack of protien in diet. use a good conditioner, dont brush hair when wet, use wide tooth comb, try not to use anything that can harm your hair.
the cutting hair shorter than the split ends is not what most women want to hear, but will help in long run just have to have it short for awhile.
