I never had a problem with this, and really am not sure if it's actually the " pressure" everyone says, if you've ever seen how they toss your bags on and off the plane, I think that's when it happens. I know that when I travel I open the tops and put plastic wrap over the opening then put the cap on, and in a ZipLock bag.

I don't fill the bottles up all the way and if they're new, I let some of the contents out. Then I put them in a ziploc bag, just to be safe.

Start w/the bottle 5/6 full, squeeze contents to top & cap. Zip-lock bag everything. You might also want to bring some spare zip-lock bags in case one breaks or to store dirty clothes. You can use the xxl bags as a washing machine - partially fill w/water, add detergent & clothes, seal & agitate - rinse well.

You will need to open them and pour out, or use some of it before your flight. This is the best way, but not necessarily 100% goof-proof. same goes with aerosol hairspray. Use it first, and take about what you'll need.
I also pack my stuff in the middle of my suitcase, covered on both sides by a cushion of clothes.
Good Luck.

Seal them inside a ziploc bag with all of the air out. Sometimes there will be a mess inside the bag, but it won't be all over your clothes!
