Okay, I have a question and I will like reasonable answers only!!! My friend works in a warehouse where there are no windows in the back where the guys load trucks at. They only have two fans that are supposedly there to keep the guys cool. We live NJ and they have issued a heat warning advisor and the warehouse temperature is worst inside because there is no windows. What can he do so he won't get fired, but at the same time won't get sick? He is having different syndromes like light headiness and throwing up. He also has diabetes.

tell your friend to put a damp bandana around their neck... even put it in the fridge or freezer for a while first. and remember to stay hydrated -drink TONS of water. and tell him to take care of his diabetes, and maybe see a doctor to see if he should do anything special while working in such extreme heat...
good luck!

Drink ice cold water or he could put a cold wet towel around his neck and every so often get the towel wet again maybe from a drinking fountain. Some companies provide neck bands that have gel inside. When they get wet they stay cold for an hour or so. Stand in front of the fan for a few minutes while spraying himself with cold water from a spray bottle.

I drive all day in traffic in 100 degree weather with no air conditioning. I deal with it by keeping a small spray bottle full of plain water in it, and every few minutes I give myself a mist. It keeps me from sweating so much and it catches any little breeze. Tell him to try the spray bottle- it really will help.

I also wear a wet bandana on my head, and that helps alot, too. I just keep it damp by spraying it more than I spray my body. Plus it looks cute flapping in the wind, revealing my bun.

My boyfriend ties a wet bandana around his neck at his mechanic job. Some of his co-workers have started doing that, too, and they all think it helps.

Your friend really needs to get a new job if his getting sick. If he wont do that maybe he could bring his own fan and try placing a wet cloth on the back of his neck. Other wise he may have to just deal with it.

he needs to speak to his most immediate supervisor. he needs to tell them of his diabetes and the symptoms he's having from the heat. If necessary, tell him to go the doctor and get something in writing to verify it.
Its the best way to resolve the situation without endangering his job.
If all else fails, maybe he should look for another job. With a condition like diabetes, he needs to put his health first!
Hope this helps. :)

Your friend needs to contact OSHA! There are regulations for working conditions. The place could get shut down if they don't meet regs.
