NO, GOD IS NOT GOING TO DESTROY THE EARTH, THE EARTH SOMETIME IN THE NEAR FUTURE WILL BECOME A GARDEN OF EDEN OR PARADISE WHERE PEOPLE CAN LIVE IN PEACE & SECURITY.

ARMAGEDDON IS SIMPLY HIS WAR TO CLEAN THE EARTH OF WICKED PEOPLE & ALL BAD THINGS THAT EXIST, & PEOPLE WHOSE WORSHIP IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HIM.

Why, though, would God wage a global war? Armageddon is closely related to one of his cardinal qualities, justice. The Bible declares: “God is a lover of justice.” (Psalm 37:28) He has seen all the acts of injustice perpetrated during man’s history. This naturally provokes his righteous displeasure. Thus, he has appointed his Son to wage a just war in order to do away with this entire wicked system.

Only God is capable of waging a truly just and truly selective war during which righthearted individuals, wherever they may be on earth, will be preserved. ) And only he has the right to impose his sovereignty over all the earth, for it is his creation.—Revelation 4:11.

What about survivors? Indeed, no one needs to perish at Armageddon. The apostle Peter observed: “God . . . does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) And the apostle Paul stated that God’s “will is that all sorts of men should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.”—1 Timothy 2:4.

Consider the good Har–Magedon promises to achieve—godly humanity’s peaceful future on this planet, no more pollution, no more war, no more poverty, no more disease or even death. God promises: “Look! I am making all things new.”—Revelation 21:3-5.

Armeggedon is a Greek pronunication of the Hebrew words "har megiddo", or "mountain of Megiddo." This is an actual location in the Jezreel Valley of modern day northern Israel.

In Bible times, all roads connecting Africa with Asia and Europe passed near Megiddo. This made it a strategic position and many battles throughout history were and would continue to be fought here, including, according to Revelation 16, the "final battle" between forces of good and evil.

The scene of a final battle between the forces of good and evil, as prophesised in the bible to occur at the end of the world.

Revelation 16:16 calls Har-Mageddon (Mountain of Megiddo) "the place" where these kings are gathered for this final showdown

Since the Mountain of Megiddo is not a literal place, they feel it is fitting the Bible uses Megiddo as the "symbolic" place of gathering of all the kings of the Earth where they will try to do battle against God and his forces. This action on the part of the kings of the Earth is provoked by expressions and signs inspired by demons. (See Revelation 16:13)

see the following:
In Norse mythology, Ragnarök (fate of the gods) is the battle at the end of the world. It would supposedly be waged between the gods (the Æsir, led by Odin) and their aggressors (the fire giants, the Jotuns and various monsters, led by Loki). Not only will some of the gods, giants, and monsters perish in this apocalyptic conflagration, but almost everything in the universe will be torn asunder.

I am a Christian and I have a source that is very reliable and it tells me that Armeggedon is a place where the "final battle" will take place, WWIII if you will.

Everyone else has a bunch of unreliable oppinions.

Everyone is intitaled to their own oppinions, but not their own facts.

Armageddon is acutally a cock-up of Har Meggido. Har means hill and is actually a fortified hill in Meggido. It used to be a place that you would want to control if you wanted to control trade through the Mid-East and Africa. Many battles were fought around this area and it is supposed to be where the troops meet in preparation for the final battle.

Armeggedon is actually the final battle between satan and his armies, and the Lord Jesus Christ and the army of heaven. No contest.....satan loses and is pitched into the lake of fire for eternity.

This will not happen until the millennial reign of Christ on earth has completed it's thousand years.....which of course has not yet begun.

There actually is a place called "The Valley of Miggeddo" where flesh eating birds are supposed to gather for a great feast.
There is a prophecy that the blood shed will be enough to reach a horse's bridle in that valley.

If these wars go on unchecked, that could actually happen.....
